**Maintenance Attendant**

The Valhalla Hotel & Conference Centre is recruiting for a **Maintenance Attendant**. The Maintenance Attendant is responsible for the day-to-day routine and preventative maintenance of the hotel, its exterior, and the grounds. They work as part of a team to ensure well-maintained and efficient physical operations of the hotel. They help maintain building equipment and systems in accordance with established preventative maintenance programs, perform general maintenance functions and assist in ensuring an adequate working environment. Maintenance Attendants ensure that safety is a top priority when addressing maintenance requests and ensuring the work they perform is of a quality that ensures an exceptional experience for guests. Maintenance Attendants take a proactive approach to maintaining the property at a high standard while meeting guest needs.

**Key Responsibilities**

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager or designate:

- Respond and attend to guest room calls and or concerns
- Maintain grounds as directed by Department Manager including snow removal
- Ability to diagnose malfunctions and repair unsafe equipment
- Electrical: changing light bulbs, ballasts, and repairing receptacles
- Pool maintenance, including repairs, water testing
- Servicing air conditioners; repairing toilets, tubs, and sinks; servicing heat pumps
- Assist in maintaining building equipment and systems in accordance with established preventative/predictive maintenance programs
- Assist all guests in a sincere courteous manner, whenever possible going the extra mile and doing whatever it takes to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Assist with maintenance and repair of interior and exterior areas, including guest rooms, public areas, laundry equipment, kitchen equipment, elevator, lighting, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, building automation systems, fire alarm, fire suppression, physical plant water treatment, electrical, plumbing, grey water, roof systems, building envelope, and swimming pool as directed by the Department Manager
- Monitor and maintain a comfortable environment in terms of lighting, temperature, humidity, ventilation, air quality, and general cleanliness
- Assist in ensuring that plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems supporting critical systems operate within specified equipment tolerances
- Maintain a professional manner and remain positive and calm under pressure
- Respond to emergency situations involving mechanical and plumbing system failures and take appropriate corrective action to expedite recovery
- Possess the ability to diagnose malfunctions and repair unsafe equipment and ensure that work sites are cleaned up after work has been completed
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager.

**What We are Looking For...**
- Technical experience in a recognized trade with a general understanding of building maintenance and operation. Previous experience in a fast-paced hotel environment would be considered an asset;
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Flexibility in working any shift as required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays;
- Ability to work within a team environment and a passion to learn and grow in this role;
- Ability to prioritize and multitask;
- Team player and self-starter with strong organizational skills;
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems and operations - ie. chillers, boilers, water softeners, refrigeration, plumbing and electrical;
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, creative thinking, and decision-making skills;
- Good computer and communication skills;
- Detail-oriented with outstanding organizational skills;
- Knowledge of pool maintenance;
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment-maintaining composure and objectivity with guests and team members;
