**The Role**:
We are looking for an X-Ray Characterization Facility Coordinator to support our Quantum and Nanotechnologies (QN) Research Centre. The incumbent would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
Key activities include:
- Calibrating and checking the performance and operating reliability of equipment and instruments;
- Setting up and operating equipment in accordance with established procedures;
- Performing routine experiments, observing and recording data;
- Maintaining accurate records of experimental work and maintenance;
- Training and supervising users on equipment; maintaining the day-to-day operability and inventory of the facility; and Attending and contributing to team and project meetings.**Screening Criteria**:
**Education**:
Post-secondary degree in Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science.

**Experience**:
- Experience using laboratory equipment for material characterization via X-rays;
- Experience analysing and interpreting X-ray diffraction data, including peak and pattern fitting via computer coding;
- Experience using other physico-chemical characterization techniques including thermal, mechanical, spectroscopic, or electrochemical methods;
- Experience performing equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and repair;
- Experience conducting scientific research and experimentation in a research environment;
- Experience managing a user facility would be considered an asset.

- Solid knowledge of x-ray characterization of materials, especially by X-ray diffraction (XRD).
- Knowledge of the physico-chemical characterization of materials (e.g. thermal, mechanical, spectroscopic, electrochemical);
- Ability to follow procedures from a variety of sources, including manuals, scientific publications, standards, and from the research team;
- Ability to collect and analyse scientific data;
- Ability to present scientific findings and technical reports to a scientific audience;
- Ability to maintain, troubleshoot and modify instrumentation.
