Royal College is seeking an experienced executive to join the Office of Learning & Connecting. If you are a seasoned leader with the ability to lead up, across and down multiple units within an organization and have a deep understanding of customer/member experience, this role is for you.
The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is a national, nonprofit organization established in 1929 by a special Act of Parliament to oversee the medical education of specialists in Canada. Today, the Royal College has over 55,000 members and the vision remains to advance the learning for specialist physicians to deliver the best health care for all. The Royal College partners with patients, Fellows, residents, and other health care collaborators to lead specialty medical education through setting standards, assessment, and enabling continuous learning so that we can provide the best care possible for patients.
Reporting to the Managing Director, Learning and Connecting, the Director, MEER will lead the Royal College member and external relations directorate and collaborate with leaders in the Learning group as well as the Office of the CEO and leaders across the Royal College to optimize member engagement and partner relations across the spectrum of specialty education and practice. The Director will also have primary responsibility for management of the Health and Public Policy Committee and the Fellowship Affairs Committee.
The Director will lead all facets of directorate, which includes strategic priorities and programs, operational, financial, resource planning and stewardship, partner and employee relations, and risk management. The Director will also provide leadership and inspiration by building relationships based on respect, integrity, accountability, and collaboration.
Working with individuals at all levels of the organization, including employees, leaders, standing committees, members of the Council and its Executive Committee, the Director will build the functional excellence required to create an excellent member experience to enable the Royal College to achieve its mission, vision, and strategic goals.
This is a hybrid position, requiring regular on-site presence to be determined with colleagues and the opportunity to work remotely.
Domestic and international travel, up to six times per year, a few days in duration.
Does this sound like you?
Level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a master’s in medical education, health or business administration with a focus in customer and/or member experience and engagement.
10 years of demonstrated experience in progressively senior positions with a track record of accomplishments.
Ability to think strategically and to design strategy and build and align teams to achieve results.
Member experience, a champion, and a partner to achieve goals and deliverables.
An understanding of key aspects of volunteerism with active experience being on a Board of Directors.
Business acumen with a disciplined approach to corporate and operational decision making and reporting.
An understanding of how to move cross-functional work forward in a complex organization.
Demonstrated people management skills with a coaching mindset.
Demonstrated ability to effect change within an organization, using creativity to lead the design of new programs and services and formulate novel approaches to solving unique, complex problems.
Ability to build and maintain relationships across business groups internally and externally, demonstrating an inspiring thought leader who understands the context and the issue and can offer guidance, direction, and synergy to advance our work.
A peer for members and partners with an ability to influence and champion inside-out and outside-in including in Québec.
Ability to attract contributors and partners to work with us.
A networker exercising sound judgement and tact.
Ability to understand overall Royal College mandate and our realities.
A seasoned facilitator, demonstrating above-average listening skills and the ability to effectively chair committee and team meetings.
Willingness to engage in ongoing education and professional development activities in the evolving areas of Member Experience, medical education, and operational effectiveness.
