We are located about a 5-minute drive south of Saskatoon, so reliable transportation is a requirement of the position.
**About the role**:
Landscape Foremen are responsible for performing various tasks to manage the timely completion of landscape maintenance service contracts. The position requires the supervision, training, monitoring performance of staff, supervising the use of equipment and the operation of a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specified job tasks, as well as provide daily progress reporting on time, material and cost estimates.
**What you will do**:
- Supervise the execution of maintenance projects, planning labor, equipment, materials, and timing requirements to ensure completion of jobs within project deadlines.
- Manage safety, quality, and productivity of work at jobsites.
- Delegate, Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the day-to-day work activities of the landscape leads and workforce, and ensure proper safety, quality, and productivity is being reached.
- Conduct on-site orientations/training with new employees and employees in new positions, which cover all company health and safety policies, practices, and procedures, and demonstrates safe and proper job methods and techniques.
- Operate power equipment including, but not limited to, heavy equipment, measurement equipment, shovels, etc.
- Perform landscape maintenance for both residential and commercial properties.
- Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment by cleaning, lubricating, and conducting inspections daily.
- Complete and submit all required paperwork and electronic forms daily, including daily time and service record forms, equipment daily inspection forms, etc.
- Inspect all work for quality to eliminate the need for return visits and/or rework due to poor quality or customer satisfaction issues.
- Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard areas.
- Performing daily equipment and vehicle maintenance - preventative damage, checking fluids, and completing paperwork related to equipment and vehicle use.
- Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and that all crew members are in compliance with government and company PPE standards.
- Comply with all company policies and local health and safety laws and regulations and ensure all crew members are doing the same.
**What you will bring**:
- Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record and with Reliable transportation to and from work sites.
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Speak, read, and write English.
- Personal smartphone with data plan to be used throughout the day for communication, payroll, and job reporting.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the landscape maintenance industry.
- Experience operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner.
- Effective supervision, leadership, and time management skills, and ability to relate them to everyday duties.
- Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools, and equipment required to complete various landscape maintenance practices.
- Ability to work under pressure, and with tight deadlines.
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy labour-intensive tasks for extended periods of time in various outdoor environments.
- Ability to adapt to your surroundings and be willing to accept the challenges you may be faced with daily.
- Recognized qualifications will be an asset: (Horticulturist Degree, Journeyman Landscape Gardener, CCHT (Canadian Certified Horticultural Technician), CLT (Certified Landscape Technician), PHS (Prairie Horticulture Certificate), Master Gardener, Saskatchewan Pesticide Applicators Certificate)
**Work Conditions**:
- Various locations including both residential and commercial landscape construction sites.
- Working near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis.
- Working outdoors in various conditions including cold, heat and humidity, rain, dust, and noise.
- Working flexible hours including occasional weekend work, stat holidays, and out-of-town work where required.
