Cancon Construction Ltd. is a local excavation and civil contracting firm with 20 years of construction experience specializing in site servicing, road building and excavation.

**Due to continued growth, we are currently seeking to hire a Pipelayer and a minimum 1-2 years previous civil experience (water, sanitary, storm, hydro/telephone). You will be part of a rapidly growing group with room to grow within the company.**

The Pipe Layer position will install various types of underground utilities, adhering to local and municipal specifications, while ensuring that the utilities are being installed at the correct grade and elevation.

This position must be in compliance with company guidelines and procedures, which may be introduced or amended from time to time.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Installation of underground utilities (HDPE, telephone/hydro, PVC, Water, Sanitary, Sewer), ensuring utilities are installed at the correct grade and elevations.
- Identify concerns or potential problems and issues, and bring them to the attention of your team leads and/or supervisor.
- Maintain an open and communicative demeanor, facilitating strong communication to your co-workers and team members.
- Practice safety in your every move, be fully aware of your surroundings, do your part to minimize hazards and report any injuries or damage to your supervisor immediately.
- Participate in site and safety meetings with your supervisor and co-workers as needed, and maintain active communication with your supervisor and co-workers, throughout your work period.
- Complete all required daily safety paperwork in a thorough and timely manner.
- Complete industry, project and/or safety specific training, as requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**Skills & Attributes**:

- A minimum of 1-2 years of civil experience is required (water, sanitary, storm, hydro/telephone).
- Knowledgeable with a proven safety record of working around existing utilities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to perform well without supervision.
- Strong understanding and respect for safety guidelines and protocol.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Understanding of how to read blueprints and drawings.
- Knowledgeable in operating hand/power tools.
- Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds at a time.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
