Sacwal Flooring Centres is recruiting for a full-time, permanent, experienced Bookkeeper to head the accounting department in our fast-paced Chatham, ON location
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Completing internal audits, and other financial administration functions required to support achieving store objectives
- Reviewing and reconciling accounts, processing payments to external partners, maintaining updated records of invoices and receipts and completing of all requisite government reporting
- Ensure business transactions are reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”)
- Inventory Control
- Work closely with team members to ensure all financial responsibilities have been reported and completed
- Assist external accountants with annual year-end reviews
- Oversee all computer system backups
- Research and analyze expense variances for management personnel;
- Reviewing and resolving supplier invoice discrepancies
- Maintain superior level of accuracy while creating and verifying purchase order information including proper product costing, shipping instructions, etc
- Responsible for the accurate entry, proofing, maintenance and submission of purchase orders
- Preparing invoices for projects and services
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of bookkeeping and/or accounting experience as a competent bookkeeper or intermediate accountant.
- Post-Secondary diploma or degree in the field and proof of same
- Is extremely organized and attentive to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable communicating in writing and verbally to all stakeholders
- Is a discreet individual, with the ability to maintain confidentiality as required
- Able to prioritize, multi task, meet deadlines, and processes analytical skills and experience
- Experience with Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Word and demonstrate strong computer skills
- Bookkeeping background; demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted bookkeeping practices
**Salary and Bonus**:
- $55,000 to $60,000 plus bonus
- In consideration, we provide a 40-hour Monday to Friday workweek and have a health care plan.
