The bustling marine community of French Creek is situated on Highway 19A, which runs along the east coast of Vancouver Island beside the open water of the Strait of Georgia. French Creek’s working harbor is home to a large commercial fishing fleet and many charter operations that can take visitors fishing, sightseeing, and diving. French Creek Marina offers sheltered moorage and yachting amenities for sailboats and pleasure craft. Recreational activities for all whether you are an avid golfer (6 world-class courses in the area) or fisher (annual salmon run, haven for salt water and even trout) or just want to enjoy nature at one of the Provincial parks (Englishman River Falls, Rathtrevor Beach) it is all here. You can take a scenic road trip south and about 2 hours be in the beautiful city of Victoria. If you prefer visiting for a Metropolitan city just a short drive to drive to Nanaimo, jump on a ferry and about 3 hours you can be in beautiful Vancouver.
**What you’d be responsible for**
Reporting to the Lead Hand, the Operator is accountable for, but not limited to:
- Maintaining, inspecting, and repairing water treatment and distribution facilities and infrastructure.
- Servicing infrastructure in water distribution/treatment systems and conducting plant operations activities (i.e. water quality sampling, process monitoring, evaluation and control, residuals management, equipment isolations and shutdowns, cleaning, and quality assurance/quality control testing).
- Monitoring and meeting internal quality standards (i.e. Safety & Environmental).
- Collecting data for monthly regulatory and operational reporting as required.
- Generating and analyzing reports as required (i.e. monthly/annual reports, safety reports, and project coordination).
- Troubleshooting day-to-day operational issues and developing solutions to rectify these issues.
- Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures.
- Participating in safety meetings, operations meetings, and audits and completing assigned actions items.
- Monitoring and meeting internal quality standards (i.e. Quality Assurance, Safety & Environmental).
- Meeting all site safety requirements, including completing Safe Work Planning and job hazard assessments.
- Working co-operatively with team members and using other resources to complete site responsibilities.
- Participating in the on-call rotation, responding to call-outs, and shift coverage.
**What’s required to be successful**
- Grade 12 diploma (GED, or equivalent level of secondary education).
- Level II certification in Water Treatment and/or Waster Distribution.
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia Motor Vehicle Operator's License (with 6 demerits or less).
- A 5 year Commercial Driver Abstract will be required at the time of hire.
- Class 3 license would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and an affinity to learn other software systems and the ability to assist with data collection and report writing.
- Demonstrated willingness to maintain and upgrade certifications.
- Familiarity with Heavy Equipment (skid steer, back hoe).
- Mechanical / electrical / instrumentation aptitude - formal or informal skilled trades background.

**Wage**: are on a matrix scale recognizing Certification levels - Operator II: starting at $34.95
Hours of work: Hours of work: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.
- Overtime and weekend work may be required. Participation in the on-call rotation system.
- Able to respond within the response time as per EPCOR requirements
- Out of town work may be required
