Entegrus Powerlines requires a Systems Operator for its Chatham location. Reporting to the Manager of Operations - Southwest, this position monitors and controls the distribution system and operates computerized line equipment. The position also co-ordinates emergency response and the daily operations of the system by providing guidance and direction to field crews.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Review system loading, equipment loading, and voltage drops and outage circumstances at various supply points, and recommend corrective measures as required;
- Evaluate load transfer capabilities to cater to seasonal variations in load pattern and for power restoration purposes;
- Respond to power interruptions, emergencies and dispatch staff to effect emergency repairs and restore power;
- Operate the distribution system using appropriate software and tools, including SCADA, on a daily basis;
- Prepare, review and execute orders to operate for switching;
- Plan and coordinate switching for substations, mobile utility stations, privately owned customer stations, feeder balancing and to schedule outages;
- Guide and direct line crews while monitoring and controlling the system;
- Maintain department records, update electronic maps and diagrams, clear locate requests;
- Liaise with other departments, utilities and customers to provide and acquire technical information and coordinate system activities; and,

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- **Education**: Must possess an Electrical Operator’s trade certificate as a Journeyman Operator or be able to successfully pass the certificate testing within a 60 working day period. In addition, a two year Engineering Technician diploma is preferred.
- **Experience**: A minimum of three years of job-related
- **Knowledge**: Must have proficiency with SCADA and GIS systems, as well as knowledge of electrical distribution systems and Utility Work Protection Code.
- **Other**: Must possess and maintain a valid Class G Driver’s License and an acceptable driver’s abstract

**SKILLS**
- Must have strong organizational and interacting skills including records
- Demonstrable written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Must have a good understanding of the electrical distribution business and have the technical experience to gauge and appreciate project scope and scale.
- Must have strong attention to detail and meticulous record keeping skills.

The successful applicant will be a self-motivated individual with the demonstrated ability to work as a team player and ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations, the EUSA rulebook and company policies and procedures.

This is a full-time union position based on the Collective Agreement. Current hours of work are from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. The successful applicant must also be available to assist with after hour emergencies as required and is required to respond to calls within 15 minutes of the receipt of the call and be onsite within 60 minutes from the receipt of the call.
