Caregivers Needed for 3-hour Shifts in Vancouver in

CLIENT E:
We need a caregiver to assist an older gentleman who lives at Point Grey Hospital at 2423 Cornwall Ave, Vancouver, BC V6K 1B9 (near 4th and Macdonald). There are lots of buses that run right in front of the hospital. He had a stroke so needs a caregiver who can engage him in conversation and do some light/simple exercises to get his strength back. His son visits him every day for several hours. This is mostly companionship (no cooking or cleaning). Character traits/skills - interest in simple/light exercise, and engages in conversation happily and confidently. If the weather is okay, take him outside. You need to talk with him so he doesn’t drift off to sleep. You can do fun little games, like counting fingers, or silly conversation, like talking about the birds outside or the trees. Bonus if you speak Slovenian, Serbo-Croation, or Italian.

Caregiver Roles:
1. Offer companionship and make a connection.

2. Engage him mentally, physically, and nutritionally.

3. Take him outside if nice and interact with him. Talk with him about everything, especially if it is fun and playful, like counting fingers, or spotting birds. He should remain alert and shouldn’t sleep in his wheelchair for more than about 30 minutes.

4. Support him with recreational opportunities. Assist with exercise, like moving his feet while in the wheelchair, or using very light weights (2 lbs.).

5. At meal time, make sure he is eating properly. He should avoid carbs (bread and potatoes) and sugar, but have supplements (vitamins and liquids). You could help cut meat and veggies.

6. Personal care: help him with any extra care (brushing teeth, combing hair with part from his left to his right please).

7. Organize clothing, make his bed, and keep his room tidy.

8. Accompany him to appointments at PGH (dentist, barber).

9. No need for medication reminders.

The shifts are six or seven days per week, and I have a couple of caregivers, but still need to cover **Thursdays 1-4pm for sure and maybe Tuesdays 1-5pm and Sundays 2-5pm, so please tell me if you can do any/all days (Monday to Sunday). The new caregiver will start as soon as this Tuesday October 1 (for a paid orientation).**

CLIENT J:
One or two caregivers needed to assist an elderly lady who lives in Southeast Vancouver in Champlain Heights (around 54th and Kerr), with housekeeping, light meal prep (lunch), personal care, companionship, and assistance with daily living.

The shifts will be **Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from around 11am-2pm, 1130-230, or 12-3, starting right away next week (October 1 or 2).**

CLIENT K:
One or two caregivers needed to assist an elderly lady who lives in North Burnaby, with homemaking, meal prep, and walks.

The client would like

Meal planning (make lunch and make dinner to put in the fridge/freezer)

Cooking (food and shopping is REALLY important)

Light housekeeping

Hand washing

Laundry

Bed linen change

Walking - to the grocery store (10 blocks away); in the neighbourhood

Ironing

Sewing buttons on/hand sewing

Companionship (would prefer a caregiver who has been in Canada a while or knows Canadian culture well)

The shifts will be **Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from around 10am-1pm, 11-2, or 12-3, starting soon.**
