**About the Position**:
The Edmonton EXPO Centre is looking for **Supervisor, Event Security,** to join the team. Reporting to the Manager, Safety & Security, the Supervisor, Event Security is responsible for providing protective services in a customer service-oriented manner while protecting organizational assets and key interests, including people, property, information, and reputation.
- Ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for staff, guests, and clients during events at the Edmonton EXPO Centre.
- Conducting investigations into incidents such as property damage, mischief, or other issues identified within the facility.
- Overseeing and monitoring event security guards to ensure compliance with safety protocols and operational standards during events.
- Providing timely feedback to security guards regarding performance and addressing concerns proactively.
- Maintaining effective communication with other departments, including Banquets and Facility Operations, to ensure seamless event coordination.
- Addressing and responding to requests from security guards, internal departments, and clients to resolve issues effectively.
- Demonstrating an understanding of crowd dynamics, individual behaviour, and safety considerations, intervening appropriately when required.
- Overseeing staff deployment, ensuring appropriate coverage and effective resource allocation during events.
- Facilitating training for event staff, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- A valid Alberta Security Services and Investigators Act License (SSIA Licence).
- Valid ProServe and ProTect certification or be willing to obtain upon hire.
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 6 months of security industry-related experience.
- Ability to obtain PPCT or CSTS certification.
- Good written and verbal communication skills (English).
- Ability to stand, walk and sit for significant periods of time.
- Physical ability will be important to this position as security guards often have to handle and transport materials up to 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of applicable Criminal Code statutes, Provincial legislation, and Municipal by-laws.
- Use-of-force and verbal de-escalation training would be an asset.
