**JOB SUMMARY**

Kwilmu’kw Maw-klusuaqn Negotiation Office (KMK) supports the Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaw Chiefs (Assembly) in the negotiation and consultation processes. KMK engages Nova Scotia Mi’kmaw communities on the best ways to implement our collective Aboriginal and Treaty Rights. KMK is seeking a **Food, Social, & Ceremonial Fisheries Coordinator** to assist with this important work.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES**

Reporting to the Fisheries Lead, the **Food, Social, & Ceremonial (FSC) Fisheries Coordinator** will play a central role in engaging with members of the Mi’kmaw communities and organizations regarding in rights-based fisheries. The FSC Fisheries Coordinator will also play an active role in providing Mi’kmaw leadership with information to make decisions on F.S.C. fisheries and the developmentand implementation of related projects and initiatives.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Fisheries experience or understanding is required
- Community engagement experience or relevant training is preferred
- Prior experience collecting data, fact finding, and drawing valid conclusions
- Ability to advocate for issues of concern for the Mi’kmaq of Nova Scotia
- Ability to balance priorities and consistently meet deadlines
- Knowledge of Mi’kmaw Traditions, culture and of the Nova Scotia Mi’kmaw communities
- Strong understanding of and ability to review technical information
- Knowledge of Mi’kmaw Traditional Use and Mi’kmaw Rights
- Written and verbal communication skills that allow you to inform and advise others clearly
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills
- Prior experience working with Mi’kmaw and/or Aboriginal communities and organizations is required

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**
- Must hold and maintain a valid NS driver’s license. Travel throughout Nova Scotia will be required.
- Potential for occasional work on weekends or evenings.
