**Shift Details**: Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm

**Position Summary**:
The Trade Compliance Specialist provides expert-level HS classification, free trade agreement, refund and amend adjustment, and compliance information to clients and staff. The incumbent may also assist with maintaining both internal and external databases, performing audits, assisting with Quality Control, and a variety of related duties as assigned.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Research classification for new products and/or confirm tariff used for existing items.
- Complete, submit, and conclude all adjusting entries, including B2’s, DAS, GST, etc. This includes such tasks as researching the database, recovering files, billing, client inquiry, etc.
- Audit and correct existing databases.
- Provide counseling for verification audits.
- Review and enter free trade certificate information; inform clients of any rejected certificates.
- Assist or complete requests for National Customs Rulings.
- Other related duties as assigned, including assisting with Quality Control of entries, attending client meetings, general office support, etc.

**Education and Experience**:

- High school education or equivalent.
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) in good standing (must maintain).
- Minimum of 5 years of rating experience.
- Note: Consideration will be given to holders of appropriate diplomas or qualifications from other institutions or organizations (e.g. Fleming or Seneca Colleges, Canada Customs Qualified, etc.)

**Competencies, Working Skills & Attributes**:

- Excellent knowledge of tariff, legal notes, free trade agreements, regulations, valuation, etc.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal in order to communicate clearly and concisely with coworkers, other departments and clients.
- Tactful and dependable.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret government regulations.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision.

**Working Conditions, Mental Effort & Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to sit for extended periods of time while entering data.
- Ability to focus on computer screen and/or written materials for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
- Must work under deadlines and related stresses in a timely and efficient manner.
- Must be able to professionally handle various personnel and other situations as they arise.
- Concentration is always required to perform the job efficiently and accurately while answering questions or phone calls for inquiries regarding HS classification, valuation, or compliance.
- Lifting boxes on occasion - up to 20-25lbs.
- Travel is generally not required but may need to attend meetings at client offices from time to time.
