Civil Construction Superintendent

LandWorx Contracting Ltd. is a civil construction company operating in Victoria and Nanaimo, BC. Our primary focus is developing our own residential development properties throughout Central and Southern Vancouver Island.

The Civil Construction Superintendent directs and manages all construction crews, subcontractors, equipment, and enforcing the company’s direction, policies, procedures and safety standards, while meeting construction deadlines. The construction work is varied including all facets of small to medium sized civil jobs.

Key Responsibilities:

- Organize and coordinate the weekly/daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, and equipment.
- Ensure ANY and ALL Traffic Accommodations are arranged and implemented.
- Ensure equipment is maintained and serviced on daily basis e.g. (greasing) report all other issues for repair.
- Order trucking and material on daily bases (trucking, sweeper, flagger, etc.) INFORMING Foreman
- Maximize production while maintaining HIGHEST Quality and safety.
- Represent the company professionally in the community and maintain an ongoing business relationship with existing customers, suppliers, engineers, etc.
- Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
- Verify job specifications (depth, quantity, limits) prior to commencement of work. Relay to Foreman, crew and Project Manager.
- Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met.
- Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture, and an integral component of regular duties.
- Administer and submit detailed daily reporting, and time keeping with daily notes to the Operations Manager.
- Train and promote the development of crew members.
- Enforce safe work practices and safety management as per Applicable legislation in work zone.
- Work with the Human Resources/ Management Department on matters of employee performance and discipline, when required.
- Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.
- Maintain positive company image.
- Other duties as required.

Work Experience:

- Minimum 5 years as a civil construction superintendent

Technical Skills:

- Proficient in the use of all equipment and tools related to civil construction.

Working Conditions:

- Overtime as required as per OH&S legislation
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.
- Required to perform tasks that involve standing, heavy lifting, bending, crouching, and kneeling for an extended period of time.
- Use of personal protection equipment is required.
- Use of sunscreen, and appropriate headgear required when working outdoors.
- Must be able to work outdoors in areas that are dusty and/or dirty.
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
- Must comply with all company policies.

**Salary**: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
