Purchasing Manager

Winnipeg, Canada Buhler Versatile Inc. Full time

Preference will be given to those coming from manufacturing of agricultural or other large mobile type of equipment. Must be well-versed in the purchasing of parts and be comfortable reading related blueprints.

Key Function:

- Direct and manage all Buyers within the department
- Provide continual mentorship to all Buyers
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies and policies to optimize procurement processes.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery speed
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to ensure favorable pricing and terms
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their purchasing needs and requirements
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure timely procurement of materials
- Implement and maintain an effective MRP (Material Requirements Planning) system
- Source and procure materials, equipment, and services needed for production or operations
- Manage vendor relationships and conduct regular performance evaluations
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and new product developments
- Oversee the entire purchasing process from requisition to payment

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Purchasing management role
- Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and procedures
- Familiarity with MRP systems and other purchasing software
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms and pricing
- Solid understanding of supply chain management concepts
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective vendor management
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
