**SUMMARY**
The position is accountable for managing investigations of financial institutions to determine compliance with legislation.
**ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Oversees the investigation of urgent, complex, and high-risk files and referral to other agencies.
- Co-leads the BCFSA investigative community of practice.
- Manages and/or leads market conduct projects and/or initiatives and executes deliverables within allotted time.
- Defines priorities and goals, Develops and implement operational plans and reporting mechanism for a program area to support reliable program accountability, organizational core values and mandate.
- Contributes to the development of operational policies and procedures, performance standards and service levels with the goal of continuous improvement.
- Manages and controls a budget and makes fiscally responsible decisions.
- Provides supervision, coaching and mentorship to allow team members to achieve their full potential.
- Actively participates in developing the corporate culture and employee engagement by implementing and practicing the BCFSA’s core values, setting performance expectations and team member accountability.
- Develops and maintains constructive and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, represents the BCFSA in meetings with stakeholders.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS**:
- Degree in business, public administration, criminology, or law and considerable related experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ years of related experience including:
- Leading a complex regulatory or investigative program
- Managing people
- Managing projects
- Engaging and influencing stakeholders
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in corporate security, law enforcement, or a regulatory environment and investigative experience in insurance, trust, credit union financial service sectors.
- Applied knowledge of insurance company, credit union / banking operations, or trust company:
- Products and practices; and
- Legislation and regulations.
- Applied knowledge of the investigation principles/techniques and computer-based research techniques.
- Knowledge of risk management principles.
- Knowledge of project management principles.
- Ability to exercise judgement, demonstrate initiative and discretion.
- Ability to influence stakeholders to comply with legislation.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
