Simson-Maxwell was established in 1941 and is a leading name in the distribution of industrial engines, and
the manufacture, sales and service of standby and prime power generator set systems. Simson-Maxwell is
internationally recognized in the power generation industry for its expertise in the custom design, engineering,
sales, and service of quality power generation sets and electrical control equipment under the Simmax brand
**EFFECTIVE DATE**:Immediately**
**TERMS & CONDITIONS**
- Permanent, Full-Time, Salaried
- Monday - Thursday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM Friday 8:00AM - 2:30PM - ½ hour lunch
- Vacation Entitlement: In accordance with Simson-Maxwell’s “Human Resources Policies &
Procedures.” (Vacation time cannot be taken during probationary period.)
- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccinations Required
**SUPERVISOR**:Chief Financial Officer
**RELATIONSHIPS**
The Manager, People & Culture of Simson-Maxwell will develop and maintain good business and/or working
relationships with the following:
- Internal & External Customers
- Simson-Maxwell Staff
**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
We are looking for someone who has experience working in organizations with a culture driven by core values,
has a passion for employee experience and is excited to help accelerate business results through effective
people programs
- Plan and implement employee surveys, communicate results, and lead the action
- plan/implementation process.- Analyze People and correlated Business targets and metrics and provide recommendations.
- Lead and administer the people function for the company, including accountability for talent
management and development, employee relations, compensation, onboarding/orientation,
employee engagement and experience, retention, health, wellness, benefits, and learning &
development.
- Accountable for HR compliance to all relevant employment laws and practices.
**Manager, People & Culture**
- Promote the corporate mission, vision, and values, living by them in all areas of your day.
- Manage full cycle recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, training,
- and benefits.- Build and maintain relationships between operations and Human Resources to create understanding
- and adoption of HR strategies, processes, policies, and initiatives.- Implement HR projects such as reward and recognition, talent attraction and retention.
- Develop programs to improve engagement, using tools such as Employee Engagement and Pulse
- Surveys to identify areas for improvement.- Provide support and direction to management for employee relationship management including
- disciplinary process and resolution of employee issues and concerns.- Provide management with information and support with HR related legislation, inclusive of Human
- Rights Act, Privacy Act, Employment Standards, and Health and Safety legislation.- Prepare and present reports to the CFO
- Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management processes.
- Develop and update human resources policies and programs to align with changes in operational
and employee needs.**
**DESIRED SKILL SET & EXPERIENCE**
- A degree in human resources or human resources designation an asset
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Experience in developing People policies and programs
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills
- Strong project management, planning, and process skills
- Knowledge of provincial employment law and current legislation in Alberta
- Strong grasp of theoretical and practical knowledges as it applies to the
rapidly changing HR industry
- Demonstrated understanding of and proven success with change management
strategies and best practices
- You’re collaborative and professional.
- You’re organized and detail oriented.
- You’re self-motivated and can work independently or as part of a team.
- You can handle pressure and an ever-changing work environment.
