Reporting to the Manager, Recreation, Community Engagement and Events, the Community Engagement and Permitting Supervisor is responsible for the development, training, supervision, coordination, implementation and delivery of town run events and is accountable and responsible for implementation of permits for town facilities and external events for the Town.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Supervise the implementation of special events, and the engaged EG volunteer program.
- Foster and build relationships and partnerships with community groups, special interest groups, sport groups, other government agencies, social agencies, neighborhood associations, and stakeholders to use municipal facilities through the booking process.
- Supervise division related full-time and part-time staff including recruiting, scheduling, orientation and training, performance evaluations, safety, discipline and payroll data authorization.
- Respond to complaints, inquiries and information requests from the general public, businesses, provincial officials and other agencies.
- Supervise and oversee the permitting of community recreation centers, municipal facilities, and other public spaces.
- Supports staff with liaising with facility user groups for the completion of facility booking process.
- Assist with the delivery of internal Town employee engagement events which includes; social committee and wellness committee events, and/or other employee working groups.
- Develop and maintain processes to track effectiveness of engagement activities and provide input to key performance measures for use in preparation of annual budget.
- Establish an ongoing feedback and measurement process to understand and evaluate the revenue and overall effectiveness of events and permitted spaces.
- Provide day-to-day hands-on coordination, guidance and support for community engagement processes, policies, practices and project initiatives to meet operational needs and corporate service standards.
- Prepare annual event section budget and monitor annual event and facility permit budget and work plan in alignment with the strategic priorities of the Town and PRC department and regularly monitors, measures and controls revenues and expenditures.
- Develop event opportunities that integrate persons with a disability and facilitates Access to Recreation and Events at the neighborhood community level.
- Liaise with external agencies and organizations (Parks, Recreation of Ontario, York Region Public Health, community and special interest groups, Ministry of Health, etc.) and other departments and Town Staff to identify/facilitate program and service needs.
**Qualifications and Requirements**:
- Post secondary diploma in recreation and/or event management and/or other related discipline in the applied arts or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years demonstrated experience developing and delivering municipal community engagement activities for diversified audience groups and individuals, special event management, and recreation programs and managing full-time and part-time employees and volunteers.
- 5 years progressive experience in working with community members, user groups and individuals to permit out facilities spaces and overseeing customer accounts.
- Knowledge of ActiveNet is preferred.
- Knowledge of policy development, event planning, community development, and provincial/federal policy, regulations and funding programs.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario Act, the Employment Standards Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Occupiers Liability Act, the Day Nurseries Act, the Accessibility For Ontarians With A Disability Act and other safety/employee legislation, regulations and guidelines.
