Reporting to the Terminal Manager, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the day to day operation of the Terminal specifically dealing with trucks, equipment and drivers. This position plays a key role in communicating and working with drivers to ensure they are ready for their shifts and are able to meet our customer requirements. The Calgary terminal is the second largest terminal within Westcan with approximately 150 drivers.

**What you bring**:

- Several years of diverse experience with supervisory responsibilities in the transportation industry
- Post-secondary education with a concentration in administration, safety, logistics or transportation would be an asset
- Knowledge of fuel and bulk commodities is an asset
- Experience with Windows based programs is required; TMW experience is an asset - _must be_ computer literate and savvy
- Knowledge of heavy duty truck maintenance and repairs an asset
- Required to be on-call during scheduled work days
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Well organized, detail oriented, enthusiastic and confident with a roll up your sleeves attitude towards work
- A self-starter with a highly energetic results oriented work style
- Ability to maintain a sense of humor and composure in challenging situations
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Capable of handling confidential information with discretion and professionalism

**About the position**:

- Creating and maintaining a positive working environment - lead drivers by setting a positive example of the expected and accepted behavior
- Working with terminal management on the product assignment, truck and shift assignment of drivers within the Terminal
- Communicating schedules to drivers and ensure effective utilization of schedules and equipment - ensure drivers adhere to set schedules, discuss any deviations as they occur
- Discussing opportunities to move drivers between product ‘boards’ as needed (working with the Operations Centre)
- Providing support to drivers by fixing the issues that transpire during the day thereby ensuring their needs are met so they may do their job (maintenance issues, customer issues, etc.)
- Working with Safety, ensuring all driver training is completed in accordance with the corporate training requirements - training must be scheduled and completed by the driver prior to expiry (e.g. on-line training, corporate training or training courses provided in house)
- Ensuring training and qualification expiries are tracked in TMW by monitoring the system on a regular basis and providing information to the Safety Administrator to update the TMW
- Identifying driver training needs and match the Driver with the proper Trainer, ensure performance is tracked and monitored
- Coordinating the effective utilization and maintenance of equipment scheduling between the Operations Centre and the Shop
- Providing coaching to Drivers on all operational deviations (e.g. loading errors, fueling location, paperwork completion)
- Providing assistance to terminal management in all areas related to the operation
- Following up with customer requests by responding in a timely manner including preparation of required information for meeting and planning sessions
- Ensuring customer service commitments are met by all staff by monitoring deliveries and advising customers when issues arise
- Preparing a variety of annual, semi-annual, monthly and weekly reports using TMW as required
- Ensuring paperwork is processed accurately and in a timely mann
