Competitive Intelligence Lead

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Strategy, the Competitive Intelligence Lead is responsible for leading the Corporate Market and Competitive Intelligence (Strategic Business Intelligence) function across the JDI Moncton companies in support of the strategic planning process. They are responsible to lead the collection, analysis, and distribution of intelligence to enable senior leaders and owners to make informed decisions on both short term/tactical and long term/strategic matters. They will lead a team of intelligence professionals dedicated to providing external perspective that informs strategic choices for all JDI Moncton businesses. They are also responsible for leading cross functional teams in the creation of custom research, analytical models, and competitive analysis frameworks to support the creation and execution of winning strategies.
- Lead Strategic Business Intelligence function and team of intelligence professionals in intelligence collection/reporting.
- Major components include daily monitoring/reporting on industry developments (competitor, customer, operating environment, longer term/macro trends), monthly summaries for management/ownership, quarterly earnings call analysis for key industry players, and custom research to support decision making.
- Direct interaction with senior leadership to understand needs and focus
- Liaise with internal and external partners to continuously improve and maximize value provided by Strategic Business Intelligence function
- Competitive Landscape Analysis, Monitoring and Benchmarking, such as industry cost curve modelling
- Domestic/International Marketplace Analysis - including industry capacity utilization modelling
- Special research, analysis, and analytical projects (strategy and competitive intelligence)
- Present research and insights to senior leadership/company ownership
- Provide support to the strategic planning process
- Build and maintain high performing team with focus on attracting/developing/retaining top talent and best in class processes/systems
- Post-secondary education in business or like experience qualification - MBA considered an asset
- 5+ years of work experience in business, Competitive Intelligence experience and/or experience leading a team considered a major asset
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a keen ability to manage up
- Expert English writing skills are crucial - strong and professional writing style, including the ability to effectively summarize essential information
- Strong professional communication skills and must be comfortable giving presentations/leading discussions with all levels of a corporation
- Self-Starter with strong aptitude for strategic and critical thinking
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat (Tableau and/or PowerBI would be a plus)
- Business Performance Measures/KPI development and reporting experience considered an asset
- Project management, time management and organizational skills, with a high attention to detail - ability to lead, manage, and prioritize multiple projects/priorities
- An aptitude towards learning new concepts, developing skills, and implementing change
- Experience in process improvement considered an assetKnowledge of the JDI Moncton companies and/or the industries in which they operate considered a major asset
