Excavator Operator

Consistent with Freeport’s Vision, Mission, Values the **Equipment (Excavator) Operator **will be a key member of the site installation team and will provide support for excavation, land clearing and site preparation requirements throughout the project completion process.
**Responsibilities**:
What your day would involve:
- Complete preparation work for concrete driveways and sidewalks.
- Complete site work including foundation excavation and backfilling of foundations.
- Install water and sewer lines, perimeter drainage, and rock pits for drainage.
- Complete site fine grading.
- Assist other work when needed ie. Pipe laying, material moving some shovel and rake work.
- Attend pre-job safety meetings; ensure safety and emergency equipment is in good working order; and accurately complete all required forms.
- Follow the company safety program as per current procedures and pro-actively work to develop and maintain a culture of safety onsite.
- Perform general labourer tasks as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Valid Drivers license and clean abstract is required.
- Minimum 3 years operation experience in this field.
- Ability to safely work in close proximity to other structures and obstacles.
- Understanding of grade and ability to accurately achieve it in a timely manner.
- Basic knowledge of construction documents, drawings and specifications and current construction practices and methodology, is preferred.
- Ability to operate other equipment (bobcat, loader) an asset.

**Work Environment**:
- Construction environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
- Must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment necessary to comply with required safety standards.
- Tasks require walking, bending, twisting, gripping, stair and ladder climbing, entering confined spaces, working at heights, navigating rough terrain and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. May require long periods of sitting (driving), walking and standing.
- Travel out of town occasionally required.
