Machinist

The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to cut and grind metal and other materials to make or modify parts and products with precise dimensions. The machinist is also responsible for maintaining various types of machinery to meet production requirements.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Under the supervision of the Weaving Supervisor, the duties and responsibilities of the Machinist include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Reads and interprets engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine machining operation to be performed and plan best sequence of operations for production.
- Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.
- Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled tools to perform precision, non-repetitive operations such as sawing, turning, milling and other operations.
- Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools.
- Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Grind or cut metal or other materials.
- Ability to count threads, measure with micrometer and vernier.
- Inspect machined parts and tooling in order to maintain high quality control standards.
- Set up and program machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
- Performs routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Conducts quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet company standards.
- Enforces strict adherence to health and safety regulations in the plant and operates equipment properly.
- Operates and monitors machinery, including wire forming machines, crimp machines and straight cut machines to ensure efficient production.
- Utilizes hand tools and logic controllers effectively during the manufacturing process.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and implement process improvements.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with safety protocols.
**Minimum Requirements**:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift license is an asset.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Machinist in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience with production processes, with keen attention to quality control and operational efficiency.
- Machine Shop experience a must.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate various machinery, including steel forming systems.
- Experience operating a lathe and performing machining operations such as turning, milling, drilling, and tap.
- Experience with manual machinery.
- Technical knowledge of tools needed to grind or cut material, including metal.
- Versed in manufacturing processes.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate various machinery, including wire forming systems.
- Strong knowledge of various measurement tools such as micrometers and verniers.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding interpret designs, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Ability to understand numbers, measurements, and design instructions.
- Skilled in using hand tools effectively and safely.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Strong commitment to adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a safe working environment.
Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
