Food Product Scientist

**The Role**:
**A Glimpse into a Day-in-the-Life**
- Oversee product development from initial concept through to bench-top prototypes and full-scale manufacturing for new products and modifications.
- Evaluate product issues and collaborate with the team to address technical challenges.

Create preliminary product cost estimates and Bills of Materials to assist the cross-functional team.
- Engage in or lead cross-functional team collaborations on pertinent projects.

Review and document raw materials, formulations, and final product specifications to ensure accurate records and compliance with regulations and company standards.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures for products under your purview.
- Ensure compliance with regulations by working closely with the Regulatory team.

Offer guidance and communicate project information to internal stakeholders (i.e., Purchasing, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, etc.).
- Participate in sensory evaluations of products using both internal and external panels.
- Manage a diverse portfolio of projects with effective task prioritization.
- Conduct competitive analyses to identify opportunities for product enhancement and innovation.
- Assist in generating and developing ideas for technological advancements and cost efficiencies.
- Stay current by reading and sharing relevant information from academic and industry literature.
- Uphold confidentiality regarding projects, data, and other matters related to Leadbetter Foods business.
- Prepare and deliver technical reports/results, both written and oral, to colleagues, peers, and occasionally to management, ensuring clarity in both business and scientific contexts.

**What You’ll Bring**:

- A B.Sc. or College Diploma in Food Science/Technology or a related scientific field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in Product Development, Operations, or Quality Control is an advantage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- An ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Schedule flexibility, as varying start times may be required for plant trials and production support.
- Willingness to travel to different manufacturing locations.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Pay: $50,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
