**Job ID**: 56026 **Job Category**:Engineering & Technical **Division & Section**:Engineering & Construction Services, ECS Engineering Support Services **Work Location**:18 Dyas Road **Job Type & Duration**:Full-Time, 48 months, Temporary **Sala**ry**:$73,495 - $96,567 **Shift Information**: Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week **Affiliation**: Non-Union **Number of Positions Open**: 1 **Posting Period**: 04-Sept-2025 to 18-Sept-2025 The expectation of the LSA is to garner experience in the field, and office, while managing projects to completion, in support of Capital Delivery, including sewers, watermains, roads and various divisional stakeholders, with respect to property boundaries and City owned assets. **Major Responsibilities**: - Undertakes Cadastral, Geodetic and Topographic Land Surveys - Follows the direction of Articling Surveyor and Management Team to adhere to the AOLS Essential Areas of Knowledge. - Implements detailed plans and recommends policies/procedures regarding program specific requirements. - Conducts research into assigned area, ensuring that such research takes into account developments within the field, corporate policies and practices, legislation and initiatives by other levels of government. - Provides input into, and administers assigned budget, ensuring that project expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations. - Assists in all aspects of survey project management including initial quotations, internal and external research, field work, calculations, drafting, Ontario Land Survey (OLS) review and final client deliverables. - Reviews survey field work for accuracy, formatting, and completeness. - Assists in conducting field work, site inspections for construction projects, technical investigations, and studies and prepares reports, making related recommendations. - Exercises sound survey judgement when accessing and resolving complex survey issues with OLS projects. - Ensures surveys are conducted in compliance with Ontario statutes, Association of Ontario Land Surveyors (AOLS) Standards and City requirements. - Ensures all work is performed in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and City safety policies and procedures. - Assists with project tracking, status reporting and archiving of completed projects. - Liaises with internal City of Toronto staff, consultants, agencies and the general public. - Attends project meetings, on and off site, to identify and address changes in scope, timing, and cost, during the life of the survey project. - Assists with developing procurement documents, including RFPs, RFQs, REOIs. - Assists with developing purchase requisitions for the issuing of Purchase Orders. - Assists in the review of draft contract specifications and drawings for completeness and accuracy. - Assists in responding to customer inquiries and providing operational assistance. **Key Qualifications**: - Completion of baccalaureate level in professional surveying, approved by the Academic and Experience Requirements Committee of the AOLS or be within (three) courses of completing the academic requirements, and be eligible to commence articling. - Considerable experience with survey equipment, including Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Total Stations, and Data Collector technology. - Knowledge of CAD systems, preferably MicroStation and/or MicroSurvey. - Must Possess of a valid Ontario Class "G" driver's licence, with possession of, or the ability to obtain a City Driving Permit, to travel to various work locations, when required. - Ability to work in the field and accumulate a minimum of 225 days of qualified experience, including at least 150 days at the Party Chief level on the cadastral projects and 75 days at the Non-Party Chief level. - Considerable experience with performing title searches, calculations, drafting, plan checks and preparing reports, and to accumulate a minimum of 113 days of qualified experience, specifically in management and administration. - Ability to complete all the Essential Areas of Knowledges (EAKs), as defined by the AOLS. - Expected to report regularly to the Articling Surveyor. - Ability to maintain an active articling contract in good standing within the timeframe permitted by the AOLS. - Willingness to perform other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time, in support of survey operations or departmental needs. **Note To Current City of Toronto Employees** **Equity, Diversity and Inclusion** The City is an equal opportunity employer, dedicated to creating a workplace culture of inclusiveness that reflects the diverse residents that we serve.
