Controller, Vice President

Reporting to the CFO and serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the Vice President of Finance, will be responsible for supporting the CEO in the development of the organization’s strategic goals. In addition to the strategic components, the VP will be charged with developing and implementing more sophisticated policies and procedures as it relates to functions both in-house and with external partners. This is an outstanding opportunity for a finance executive with operational experience and a proven track record of creative problem-solving and change management to join in a high-growth, mission-driven organization.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assume ownership of the finance function; ensure production of timely and accurate financial statements and analysis that will aid in business decision making
- Implement and maintain a strong internal controls environment to safeguard company assets; develop or modify policies and procedures as business needs dictate (i.e. outsourcing to low cost juridictions, etc)
- Schedule and manage the annual external audit and any internal audits, as required; take full ownership of financial statements
- Ensure a reliable system of internal controls is in place to adequately safeguard the Company’s assets and provide with integrity accurate reporting on financial results.
- Continue to drive efficiency and effectiveness into everyday processes and taking a leadership role in engaging with key stakeholders (corporate tax and legal entity controllers)
- Overall responsibility for the capital planning including the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) and all related policies as well as supporting the local requirements for Recovery Planning.
- Take a leadership role on internal management committees in supporting senior management in reporting to the Board of Directors
**Qualifications**:
- Chartered Professional Accountant, with a proven track record of advancement, leadership and business success, with a minimum of 10 to 12 years of experience at a large financial institution and/or Big 4 Public Accounting Firm.
- Experienced people manager able to multi task people and projects to drive progress and professional development.
- Strategic planning, complex problem resolution and general management expertise.
- Ability to influence executive management, establish and maintain collaborative partnerships and provide leadership across the organization and with external partners.
- Working knowledge of the regulatory requirements as set out by OSFI and IIROC
- Project management skills are useful.
