HOPA Ports is seeking an entrepreneurial, solution-based and dynamic individual to join our growing team. - _This role is primarily based out of Niagara at the Thorold Multimodal Hub and will require occasional travel to our Hamilton and Oshawa locations. The initial training period (approximately 3-6 months) will be based at our Hamilton location._ **What you’ll do**: In this role, you will be responsible for new and strategic business development and property management related to HOPA’s real estate portfolio and key customers. You will lead and take ownership of new business development outreach, including identifying prospective customers, cold-calling, and industry research, while at the same time maintaining partnerships with current Port Partners. **Key Responsibilities**: Including but not limited to: - 1. Growing our real estate and cargo business by helping existing clients expand and attracting new business opportunities to HOPA owned and managed lands< - Lead new-business development outreach, and be comfortable cold-calling new prospects - Work with commercial team to develop and implement land use strategies plan that supports the overall objective of increasing the ports logistics capabilities and usage 2. Negotiating commercial terms and following through on execution of contractual documents - Undertake research and market intelligence to ensure that rents charged by HOPA for its commercial assets are in line with market - Actively review and verify leases versus actual conditions for compliance and opportunities for growth - 3. Manage day to day property management activities and foster strong relationships with existing customers - Establish solid relationships with port customers and new prospective customers as well as various stakeholders - Represent HOPA within the Hamilton, Oshawa and Niagara Regions’ business and civic communities **Education/Experience**: - Degree/Diploma in a relevant field and/or 2-3 years relevant work experience - Demonstrated track record of cultivating strong relationships - Business and financial acumen - Intermediate MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook - Transportation/shipping industry experience considered an asset - Industrial, Construction or Manufacturing experience considered an asset - High degree of curiosity - Must be able to work independently and in a team environment - Knowledge of Hamilton, Oshawa and/or Niagara **Compensation**: **About HOPA**: **Everyone is welcome**: We thank all applicants; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
