Our Interdisciplinary Team is vibrant group of professionals from diverse backgrounds and different life experiences working collaboratively with our Community Members to provide the best wraparound care possible. We aim to do this by valuing the lived experiences and input of community members and encouraging active participation from all involved—community members and staff—as the center of our practice.
Our Interdisciplinary Team is comprised of Managers, Substance Use Workers, an Occupational therapist, Adult Support Workers, Cultural Support Workers, Registered Nurse, and our Den Program Coordinator.

- **This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Grant; to be considered for this position you must meet ALL the following requirements**:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

**Position Responsibilities**
- Identify and address immediate needs of clients.
- Develop relationships with den participants, identifying strengths and working in a respectful way with a community that has faced trauma and social exclusion. Assist the den manager and Interdisciplinary Team, in the daily operations of the den by working closely with community members in meeting their day-to-day needs.
- Support the creation of an inclusive, safe, and friendly environment for all staff, community members and external parties.
- Learn about the case management process from our Interdisciplinary care team.
- Create a welcoming environment that offers food, meaningful programming and cultural activities that facilitate wellbeing and support.
- Record required data and complete daily activity logs.
- Maintain a healthy environment by performing a variety of cleaning and housekeeping duties as required: sweepings and mopping floors, cleaning/clearing tables, washing dishes etc.
- Engage and support volunteers in the daily operations of the Den space.
- De-escalate tense inter-personal and group situations.
- Participate in shift debriefings and work group meetings.
- BSCS is more than a workplace. It is a community where everyone helps and contributes to the whole, and there is an expectation that all employees will take part in events (during the work week and occasionally during weekends and evenings). This includes fundraising campaigns, running community meals, medicine picking etc.
**Qualifications**
- Experience organizing group recreational activities.
- Understands the challenges and stresses facing people who live in poverty.
- Treat people with respect and in a sensitive manner
- Knows how to problem-solve with people who face emotional and psychological challenges.
- Able to handle multiple demands at the same time; exceptionally well organized.
- Can de-escalate tense inter-personal and group situations.
- Listens well, has a calm demeanor and knows how to solve practical problems.
- Comfortable completing shift reports and doing some data entry.
- Possess robust mental health and a commitment to self-care.
- Meet all Canada Summer Jobs Requirements*
- Police Check with the Vulnerable Sector and Child and Youth Intervention Check completed within the past six months.
- Valid First Aid certificate or enrolled in a future course.
- Experience with and knowledge of Indigenous culture and ceremonies is considered an asset/
