***The Opportunity**:
WSP E&I has an employment opportunity for a Practicum Student to work with us as a Junior Environmental Biologist, based in Edmonton, Alberta. You will have the opportunity to work as part of our Environmental and Regulatory team to contribute to the environmental planning and permitting efforts of government, infrastructure, oil and gas and renewable energy projects.

**A day in the life**:

- You will work within the Environment and Regulatory team under the supervision of the Discipline Lead.

**What you'll bring to WSP...**:

- Student or graduate of Bachelor of Applied Sciences or B.Sc. majoring in Land Stewardship and Conservation, Environmental Conservation and Reclamation, Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation, or equivalent demonstrated training or experience.
- Working knowledge of the Canadian System of Soil Classification and AGRASID.
- Introduction to ecosite classification and wetland classification (Alberta Wetland Classification System).
- Field school or work experience in completing soil surveys and vegetation surveys (incl. Parkland and Boreal Forest Natural Regions), including weed and agriculture vegetation identification.
- Working knowledge of Alberta Wetland Rapid Evaluation Tool
- Actual (ABWRET-A) is an asset.
- Interest and knowledge of wildlife and fisheries is an asset but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with project managers, clients, regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and the public.
- Strong commitment to health and safety.
- Well organized, attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and up to date field information.
- Ability to use navigation tools to navigate to remote locations.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Experience using ArcGIS sof
