We are currently seeking a **Cake Decorator/Assistant Baker** to join our growing team We are a family owned and operated high volume fast paced Italian bakery.

**Job description**:
In this position you will be focused on baking, filling and masking bakery style cakes as well as producing cookies, doughs, pastries and fillings. Day to day you will assist the head baker in these tasks but must be self directed and able to take the lead in the absence of the head baker. Everyone on our team works together so we all answer calls, provide excellent customer service (phone and in-store), as well as take and fill orders. You will write and decorate cakes with masking and piping depending on order.

**Tasks**:

- Bake, fill and mask sponge and butter cakes
- Assist with baking cakes, doughs, cookies & pastries
- Prepare custards, icings and other required cake/pastry fillings
- Handle and prepare bakery products
- Maintain and re-fill pastry counter with fresh pastries throughout the day
- Responsible for initiating/receiving & completing orders in person and by phone
- Writing & decorating cakes using piping techniques to order
- Provide excellent customer service to meet customer needs
- Operate cash register, Process cash and credit/debit card payments
- Dishwashing & cleaning duties
- Work and clean deep fryer for deep fried pastries
- Use a dough sheeter
- Follows guidelines & directions with ease
- Maintain proper first in first out rotation
- Have baking experience in the bakery industry
- Be available to work weekdays, weekends and holidays
- Have cake piping/writing & cake decorating experience
- Have ability to multitask and seamlessly switch tasks
- Be safety-conscious
- Have artistic skills & attention to detail
- Speak/write fluent english (Italian speaking an asset)
- Be self directed and able to manage staff in absence of owner
- Food handlers certificate

**Physical requirements**:

- Constant standing, walking and bending
- Occasional lifting up to 50lbs
- Constant reaching, turning and performing precision work
- Constant receiving detailed information through verbal communication with staff and customers

**Must have a Food Handler Certificate**

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.34-$21.30 per hour
