**How will you contribute?**
The Advisor, Business Resiliency and Emergency Preparedness is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the organization’s Business Continuity Management (BCM) Program and Emergency Preparedness Program. This includes establishing policies and frameworks, as well as conducting threat and risk assessments to inform strategies for emergency preparedness and business continuity.
The role involves ensuring the organization can continue to deliver essential services during an emergency or major disruption. Other key responsibilities include:
- Providing expert advice, briefings, and recommendations on BCM and Emergency Preparedness, including business resumption and recovery strategies.
- Consulting cross-functionally and across all levels with managers and staff to engage them in emergency preparedness and business continuity planning.
- Leading the creation of security awareness standards and training plans related to business continuity and emergency preparedness
- Coordinating emergency simulation exercises and assessing the effectiveness of plans and responses.
- Ensuring that continuity plans are aligned and integrated with the parliamentary security partners.

This selection process is open to staff one (1) indeterminate position in the Corporate Security Directorate.
This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.
**Prerequisites**
- Successful completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to the position;
- Certification through the Disaster Recovery Institute as an Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) program (at a minimum) would be considered as an asset;
- Minimum 2 years’ experience providing strategic advice, briefings and recommendations regarding Business Continuity Management and Emergency Preparedness issues;
- Experienced in developing risk assessments, business impact analyses and business continuity plans, associated training, and exercises;
- In-depth knowledge is required of the Senate principles, methods, programs and policy for the effective coordination of BCP and BIA plans;
- Extensive knowledge of the emergency preparedness and business continuity management field;
- Proven problem-solving techniques/skills to develop solutions which enable the continuation or restoration of essential services;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills needed to liaise with high level stakeholders;
- Ability to find creative solutions to time sensitive situations on a broad range of issues where judgment and tact is essential.
