Together we are more than 5,000 dedicated faculty, librarians and staff supporting the University of Victoria’s diverse academic programs, world-class research and commitment to civic engagement. **_An employee in this classification is excluded from the bargaining unit as defined in the Labour Relations Code._** **The salary range for this position is**: **Recruitment range: $72,044 - $89,923 maximum starting salary** is determined through knowledge, experience and internal equity. **Performance range: $103,334 salary range ceiling** is available through annual performance increases. - Job Summary **_Mandate or core purpose of role_** The Case Management Officer in an integral part of the EQHR Case Management team, which includes the Manager, Informal Case Resolution, Manager, Sexualized Violence Prevention, Education, and Support, and the Associate Director. The Case Management Officer participates as a member of the EQHR Case Management team by providing the first point of contact and intake for all complaints and inquiries under the Discrimination and Harassment and Sexualized Violence Prevention and Response policy. They will move some cases through to resolution while assisting in coordinating and managing the overall caseload under both policies toward efficient and timely resolutions. **_Summary of roles, functions and areas of focus_** The Case Management Officer is responsible for responding to inquiries from across the university community regarding concerns of Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexualized Violence. They will be the first point of contact for the case management team and will triage, refer, resolve or escalate as appropriate. They are additionally responsible for maintaining complaint records and a database in accordance with relevant university policies. The Case Management Officer will also support the Associate Director in terms of outreach and support for Complainants and Respondents. They will understand and be able to provide information and advice on both Policies to all members of the university community. In addition to their regular responsibilities, the Case Management Officer may be asked to cover for other administrative positions in the EQHR office as necessary. - Job Requirements **_Qualifications and experience_** - A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to Master’s degree in human rights, social work, gender studies, political science etc. - Ability to multi task, organize and prioritize work. - Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. - Able to relate effectively with students, staff and faculty in a diplomatic, tactful and patient manner that is sensitive and respectful of differences (cultural, disability, sexuality, age, gender, etc.). - Able to respond to disclosures and complaints in a trauma-informed and survivor-centred manner. - Introductory skills in conflict resolution and/or crisis management. - Able to use discretion, judgment and maintain confidentiality. - With support, able to assess risks in someone’s situation. - Ability to stay calm and rational under all types of circumstances and interactions. - Able to work collaboratively within a team environment and maintain positive relationships with colleagues. - Able to take initiative and work independently. - Demonstrated adaptability and resilience in response to changing work environment and demands. - Experience working with human rights policies. - Skills in MS Office program and ability to learn additional software as needed. **_Key job-specific competencies_** - **Personal Credibility** - is trusted and respected by others, protects confidential information, and is accountable for their own actions and decisions.
