The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Criminal Investigation Services is seeking a qualified individual to join our CIS Support Team. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will provide support for Major Cases through consultation, mentoring, file management, Major Case Management software support and electronic brief building in a confidential environment. Note: The salary range for this position will be adjusted as a result of the Ontario Provincial Policing Association (OPPA) collective bargaining. The new rates will be effective, retroactive to January 1, 2023. Final salary schedule and dates for implementation will be confirmed at a later date. The CIS Support Team is a civilian investigative support team that prepares all CIB electronic briefs for prosecution of charged persons. It can also provide assistance with some of the file management duties outlined in the Ontario Major Case Management Manual within an investigation and support other administrative initiatives such as converting investigative paper archives into electronic ones. Refer to the "How to apply" section if you require a disability-related accommodation. **What can I expect to do in this role?**: To provide support for Major Cases through consultation, mentoring, file management, Major Case Management software support and electronic brief building in a confidential environment. **How do I qualify?**: **Mandatory**: - Typing at 40 wpm. - Ability to pass an OPP background security investigation. - Valid G Class Drivers License **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**: - Knowledge of policies/procedures (e.g. Ontario Major Case Management / Community Safety Policing Act) related to the preparation and processing of documentary and digital evidence. - Computer Skills - Computer operation to the extent to be capable of filing, modifying, exchanging, saving, moving, storing and copying files of a digital nature including the scanning documents and other material for inclusion into an investigative database. Computer software programs (e.g. Adobe Acrobat Pro, Major Case Management software, OCR Software and Microsoft Office Programs) to understand how to manipulate data and change file types to work with proprietary software. - Ability to use oral & interpersonal communication skills to liaise with members of the investigative team virtually, via telephone or in person, specifically the file coordinator, to provide direction and guidance with the creation and maintenance of a major case file. Possesses courtesy to answer telephones, and to greet visitors both internal & external to the OPP. - Teamwork skills to be able to work within a team structure to lead, assist or otherwise support any given case. - Problem Solving/ Critical Thinking Skills -The position requires the understanding of complex database/file creation and manipulation of large amounts of data. Position requires analytical skills to determine the most effective way to manage and present evidentiary material.
