**Job Summary** The Companion is a “Friend at Home” front line health care aide worker position acting as a representative of iCare Home Heath and providing the services offered by the company for our clients. The Companion will mostly work independently of co-workers or supervisors and therefore must balance good judgment and initiative along with the policies of the company. The Companion will be required to maintain a safe working environment for themselves and their clients. **Responsibilities and Duties** The following list is a guideline of possible duties to be performed independently or as a group of duties in the course of working with the client.The Companion "Friend at Home" duties are not limited to those listed. - Observe for Safety, Friendship and Companionship. One of the most important aspects of iCare Home Health will be providing clients with a strong sense of self-esteem and independence. - Taking a genuine interest in the client, their life and their environment will help create a true sense of companionship. - Whether it is playing bingo, billiards, accompaniment to Tim Horton's, short walk in quiet side streets, and/or play chess among other activities that provide mental and physical stimulation. - **Shift Days**: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. - **Shift Hours**: 4 hours/ shift **Qualifications and Skills** 1. Compassionate, optimistic, patient and caring nature. 2. Police Criminal Reference Check. 3. Hearing impaired and Dementia training and experience is an asset. 4. Must be **Portuguese speaking**. 5. Ability to work independently. 6. Excellent communication and listening skills. 7. Must be physically and mentally fit to handle the demands of care giving. 8.
