Join the Ontario Police College's Food Services team and take the lead in delivering high-quality meals that fuel future law enforcement professionals. In this hands-on role, you'll manage daily kitchen operations, support your team, and ensure a safe, efficient, and welcoming dining experience for staff and students.

**About the job**: As the Lead Hand, Food Services at the Ontario Police College, you'll be part of a dedicated team responsible for feeding and supporting the daily routines of staff and students. Working alongside a small group of Food Services Assistants, you'll take on a leadership role in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment where no two days are the same.

In this role, you will:

- Supervise and support a small team of Food Services Assistants, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
- Prepare and serve meals for staff and students, including special dietary accommodations.
- Monitor kitchen operations, including food safety, portion control, and equipment use.
- Maintain cleanliness across kitchen, dining, and dishwashing areas.
- Identify and resolve issues, such as equipment malfunctions or supply shortages.To learn more about the role, the Ontario Public Service and the recruitment process, we welcome you to attend our information session on, December 9, at 1:00pm. - **What you bring to the team**:

Group leadership skills**: You can:

- supervise, oversee, and provide instruction to Food Services Assistants
- assign duties, check work, and demonstrate proper techniques to staff- ** Food Services Knowledge and Experience**: You have:

- extensive knowledge and experience with all aspects of volume cooking/baking (i.e. food preparation, storage procedures and methods, food safety, and portion control standards, maintain cleanliness, etc.)
- experience preparing a variety of foods including special diets (i.e. medical, religious, lifestyle)
- sound knowledge of the proper use of industrial kitchen equipment
- knowledge of health and safety legislation and standards (such as WHMIS) in order to ensure a safe work environment- ** Problem-Solving Skills**: You can:

- identify and report equipment malfunction, workplace hazards, supply shortages, etc.
- monitor food temperature and portion control
- demonstrate good judgement to resolve food service issues- ** Communication and Interpersonal Skills**: You can:

- respond to food or service enquiries or complaints from clients (i.e. students, visitors, staff)
