WERC exists to help Western students from all Faculties & academic programs improve their career-focused materials (e.g. Resumes/CVs, Cover Letters, LinkedIn profiles, etc.) as well as their interview skills individual & customized support. **Responsibilities**: Two Team Coordinators are hired each academic year to collectively manage a team of Career Profile Advisors (CPAs), trained student volunteers who work directly with Western students. Career Profile Advisors have a major influence in the career confidence of the students they work with and enhance students’ ability to be successful in achieving their employment and/or educational goals. Team Coordinators are supported by members of Careers & Experience’s Career Education team and serve as the front-line operational managers & leaders of the Career Profile Advisors and the Western Employment Resource Centre overall. **What can this role provide you?** - Professional leadership experience, both as an individual and as part of a leadership team - The ability to impact a key student service designed to help Western students achieve success both while at Western and as they transition into the community upon graduation - The chance to actively contribution to the recruitment and selection process for incoming CPAs as well as experience planning and executing training for a team of approx. 20-25 CPAs - The opportunity to assess the needs of, and provide resources and ongoing support to, members of the Career Profile Advisor (CPA) team - Facilitation skills through organizing and facilitating/delivering leadership meetings, events/workshops and other support programming as well as on-going professional development - Experience within a fun team of peers who gather both professionally and socially - The knowledge you’ve made a meaningful difference for Western students assisted by the Western Employment Resource Centre (WERC); WERC helps clients articulate the skills and knowledge they have gained & increases their confidence which makes a significant impact to that client - A more in-depth understanding of the work, support & resources offered by the Student Experience division at Western - A Letter of Reference from the WERC Staff Coordinator - Recognition through Western’s Co-Curricular Record (wccr.uwo.ca) **Key Responsibilities**: - Coordinate and reply to all e-advising inquiries during the summer period (May-August) - Collaborate with Career Education staff on the design, delivery and evaluation of training to be offered to incoming CPAs (during the Summer, as well as Fall & Winter academic terms) - Play a key role in the recruitment of incoming Career Profile Advisors (CPAs) to directly support Western students from September-April via eAdvising, Mock Interview provision and Resume/CV, Cover Letter & LinkedIn Profile feedback/coaching/advice - Troubleshoot and solve operational issues that emerge during the day-to-day operations of WERC - Represent the Careers & Experience office (and Western University overall) with integrity, holding all confidential student information in trust and confidence and dealing with all student matters with tact & sensitivity - Display an enthusiasm for the development and growth of Western students and a commitment to service excellence while respecting differences of gender, ethnic origin, race, religious affiliation, sexual orientation and those with disabilities. - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, as well as convey ideas and information clearly and influentially - A dedicated & dependable individual with integrity and a keen desire to take initiative, while developing a strong and supportive team environment - An engaged and energetic leader with a keen sense of responsibility and interest in developing career-focused knowledge and coaching skills - The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Strong time management and organizational skills - A positive attitude and a commitment to helping Western students - The ability to provide and accept constructive feedback in order to consistently refine and improve a valuable service for all Western students **Preferred Experience**: - Demonstrated community or camp
