Clifton House, a division of The Brenda Strafford Foundation, is currently seeking the next great addition to our team Reporting to them Manager of Recreation Therapy, the **Recreation Therapy Aide** is responsible for planning and facilitating recreational, social and therapeutic programming for seniors of various levels of functioning. **Qualifications**: Your key responsibilities as a Recreation Therapist Aide will involve: - Facilitating a variety of recreation programs for our Long Term Care and Assisted Living residents; - Assisting during seasonal events and special outings; - Documenting participation in programs and maintaining appropriate statistics; - Preparing and posting program notices and calendars throughout the facility; - Providing therapeutic one-on-one visits under the direction of the Director of Recreation Therapy; - Reporting residents' progress to the Director so that documentation can be entered into clinical records; - Directing and supervising volunteers assisting with assigned programs; - Working collaboratively and cooperatively within an interdisciplinary team; - Assuming cross-functional duties as required (e.g. assisting with feeding). **Education and experience**: - Recreation Therapy Aide certification, or equivalent certification; - Experience in Long Term Recreation Therapy desirable; - Food Safe Handling Certificate; - First Aid/CPR; - Supportive Pathway. **Skills and abilities**: - Excellent communication skills in verbal and written English; - Effective interpersonal skills for interacting with residents, families and staff; - Effective organizational and time management skills; - Critical thinking skills, within the scope of practice; **More than skills and experience we look for people who are the right fit.** Our team members are passionate about the mission, vision and values of The BSF.
