The North Simcoe Muskoka (NSM) Specialized Geriatric Services (SGS) Program is a regional program under the leadership of Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care. The NSM SGS program was established in 2016 to advance the care of older adults living with complexity and/or frailty in the NSM region and their caregivers. With a mandate for leadership, clinical service, education and mentorship, research and ethics as well as advocacy, the program collaborates with a broad variety of partners from within and outside the NSM health system to improve patient outcomes, build capacity and foster system change.

The SGS Program is currently seeking an interim Manager, Geriatric Mental Health for up to 18 months with a specific focus on supporting the long-term care sector. The Manager will bring expertise in geriatric mental health and specialized geriatric services to the NSM SGS program team and regional partners to: lead, manage and mentor the inter-professional team; sustain and build partnerships across the region; ensure the delivery of timely, effective, accessible, person-centred care based in leading practices; and, continue to advance and evolve the service through innovation and leadership. **Note: This position is based in the regional NSM SGS office in Barrie. Travel within and outside the NSM region will be required.**

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Works collaboratively with the SGS leadership team and all other services under the program umbrella to build a single integrated SGS system of care and to advance the geriatric mental health service across the region.
- Promotes and builds positive collaborative relationships within the team as well as with older adults and their caregivers, partner employers, partner organizations, other specialized geriatric services and Ontario Health Teams.
- Leads and supports change initiatives, committees, project work.
- Supports the budget management process; monitors and evaluates program outcomes and prepares reports.
- Provides clinical and operational leadership and direction to inter-professional program staff of Waypoint and partner-employer organizations by: coaching, mentoring and teaching about leading practices and processes; promoting positive work environments; promoting positive labour relations; coordinating and managing staff allocations and work assignments; engaging in recruitment and retention activities; managing performance against performance expectations; and performing all work in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and legislation.

**REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A university degree in a related field is required.
- Membership in a health care regulatory college required.
- Credentials in geriatric mental health an asset.
- Extensive knowledge and skill working with older adults and caregivers, including those with various types of dementia, delirium, mental illness, addictions, and responsive behaviours.
- Minimum 3 years experience in leadership positions within the health care sector.
- Minimum 2 years experience working in a regional program model or regional system, including proven success building teams and relationships with partner organizations; experience in a regional SGS Program preferred.
- Key knowledge areas/skills required to support the role: leading practices in geriatric mental health, including responsive behaviours; inter-professional collaboration; adult learning principles; critical thinking skills; risk management; change theory; project management; knowledge of relevant policies, and legislation.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Meditech, Survey Monkey, OTN, Zoom, Teams considered assets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintains all of the required knowledge pertinent to health and safety, security and potential risk hazards to be deemed a “competent person *” under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Proficiency in French/English an asset.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license required.
