**Maternity Leave - 12 to 18 Month Contract**
**Purpose**:To assume responsibility of Wellness Centre services, in conjunction with the Wellness Centre Nurse, and coordinate the effective and efficient operation of the day-to-day functioning of the Wellness Centre. As well as contributing to a sense of wellbeing for all residents via a combination of skilled tasks and personal relationship.
**Reporting to**: Director, Health and Wellness
**Qualifications**: Experience with OHIP billing and software.
Experience in a medical clinic setting.
Comfortable with invoices.
Ordering medical supplies.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
A high standard of behaviour and neat appearance.
In good health and have the ability to do heavy lifting.
A mature attitude and leadership skills.
A genuine interest in people, with a special emphasis in gerontology.
- *Nursing background with phlebotomy experience is an asset._
**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Residents**:
a. Build relationships to promote the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing of residents
b. Provide choice and decision-making opportunities to residents in all circumstances. Maintain residents’ autonomy as much as possible.
c. Be creative when problem-solving difficult situations and interactions
d. Be very mindful of maintaining residents’ privacy.
e. Dignity must be the foundation of everything you do and say
**Team**:
a. Communicate clearly with all staff (ie: members of Assisted Living team, Wellness team, physicians, physiotherapy team, dietary team, laundry team, and housekeeping team)
b. Contribute to success of team and maintain a positive attitude
c. Assist with the maintenance of records reflecting residents’ condition, care, and specific treatment (ie: documentation, attending weekly meetings)
d. Acknowledge that only English is to be spoken while on duty
e. Be flexible and eager to help teammates

c. Seek and accept feedback from team members
**Assignment**:
- Scheduling of appointment for referrals, Wellness clinics, vaccine clinics and as needed for Health Services Team Leader and Director, Health and Wellness.
- Take blood pressure, weights, and covid test residents when needed.
- Assess, plan and evaluate Wellness Centre processes, identify areas for improvements
- Invoicing for all health services and submitting to accounting.
- Sourcing health care services for wellness center.
- Maintains supplies in the Wellness Centre and orders items as needed
- Facilitating care partner interviews for all departments.
- Ensure confidentiality of all sensitive material and information
- Attend staff meetings, fire drills and committee meetings as required
- Maintain a high level of customer service
- Functions within the policies and practices of The Meadows of Aurora
- Completes tasks efficiently and safely
- Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team as required
- Documents and communicates effectively and in a timely manner
- Provides support to nurses in emergency situations effectively
- Attends in-services as available
- Meet high standards of cleanliness and adhere to aseptic practices
- Practice safety: Use good body mechanics, use good hand-washing and infection control techniques, identify potential hazards etc.
- Practice safe working practices and ensure the responsibilities as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act are performed
- Accept responsibility for proper use and care of equipment
A requirement for all individuals who work at The Meadows of Aurora and support our 55+ community include:
- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required. Everyone at this location is required to follow proper hand hygiene and wear a mask.
- A two-step TB test that can be arranged through your family doctor or many pharmacies.
- A Vulnerable Sector Check that can be obtained through designated Police locations.
