This position exists to provide support to the HR department by ensuring strong coordination and well documented records and files, comply with all established policies and procedures intended to align associates with business goals and company success, and to identify any potential departmental gaps. This position is also responsible for supporting the recruitment cycle, on-boarding, training and development activities, benefits administration, performance management documentation, and assisting the HR Manager with implementing organizational strategic initiatives.
**Essential Responsibilities**:
- Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and supports corporate compliance
- Creates draft communication for departmental changes in policies and procedures and ensures proper compliance is followed
- In conjunction with the HR Manager create draft legislative policies and procedures to ensure PIPEDA and other federal or provincial legislative adherence
- Supports organizational annual updates with the compensation program; assists in updating job descriptions as necessary; coordinates annual salary surveys and supporting data annually.
- Assists in recruitment efforts for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students and temporary employees; writes and places position advertisements in HRIS platform and local platforms
- Assists in the coordination of employee benefits programs; health benefits, RRSP / DPSP / Pension plans.
- Takes an active role in Health & Safety initiatives and Workers Compensation administration, assisting with claims management, SOPs, training initiatives and compliance
- Tracks Employee Development and Training
- Provide associate assistance for; group benefits, policy questions, employment letters and general communication
- Assist in the organization of company events
- Responsible for coordinating and complying with the associate on-boarding program and identifying gaps and progression identification.
- Post-hire follow up to ensure all documentation is signed and filed.
- Promotes partnerships with all employees and the leadership team to foster a positive work experience to all employees.
- Assists in driving and promoting the culture by researching workforce trends and participating in market/industry initiatives.
- Provides administrative and policy support for employee absences, workplace leaves, and return to work plans in conjunction with operational managers.
**Technical / Functional Skills**:
- High level of integrity in handling sensitive information and working through confidential situations is absolutely required.
- Highly organized
- Interviewing skills
- Recruitment experience up to Managerial levels
- Organizational awareness
- High level of HSE knowledge and claims management experience across Canada
- Root Cause, accident investigation analysis experience
**Education**:
B.Comm degree or equivalent education and experinece
CHRP / SHRM an asset
