A key member within the facility maintenance team at 214 Carson Co. Inc. the Hardscape and Facility Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the execution and oversight of all on-site aspects of landscape construction and maintenance projects including responsibility for overall hardscape and maintenance activities within established design, budget and scheduling guidelines.

Our Hardscape and Facility Maintenance Supervisor shares an appreciation for higher standards, future trends and work ethics along with a small group of other passionate individuals. You will co-develop project prospecting opportunities through to quoting and design along with the Director, Construction and Facility Maintenance, and ultimately, demonstrate a strong desire to manage all aspects of planning and scheduling, organizing, directing and controlling hardscape and maintenance activities across the Division.

**Site Project Planning, Execution & Control**

Working in collaboration with the Director, Construction & Facility Maintenance, assist in preparation of project schedules and plans to ensure hardscape and maintenance project cost controls have been identified and continuously monitored throughout a project’s execution.

**General**
- Manage, while performing, the execution of hardscape construction projects and maintenance activities, planning labour and equipment requirements and material deliveries and timing to ensure completion of job(s) within project timelines
- Ensure compliance with all 214 Carson Co. Inc. health, safety and quality standards while managing productivity of work at sites and/or shop and yard

**Specific**
- Assist in coordinating, executing and scheduling the day to day work activities of a landscape construction crew within which you are involved;
- Delegate job tasks to appropriate crew members to assist in the completion of landscape construction activities, when warranted;
- Assist in controlling and monitoring labour, material and equipment expenses throughout landscape construction builds in collaboration with Director, Construction & Facility Maintenance;
- Review the project plans and specifications and comment on project design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential landscape construction problems;
- Comfortable operating various tools and equipment including heavy equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, laser levels, measuring equipment etc.
- Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to delegate/complete work activities;
- Complete and submit all required paperwork on a timely basis including, but not limited to, employee time sheets, equipment daily inspection forms, and time and materials billing summaries;
- Monitor and maintain the hardscape construction project schedule on a weekly basis;
- Maintain control and responsibility for security and operation of 214 Carson Co. Inc. directly owned equipment on the job site;
- Supervise the activities of any subordinate staff, when warranted;
**Maintenance**
- Snow and lawn maintenance/garden planning and execution throughout the season;
- Scheduling of appropriate fertilization and pest control throughout growing season
- Maintain clean and well organized project site locations while enforcing and working in accordance with health and safety standards in the shop/yard and on jobsites;
- Maintain and enforce standards (to be determined) of cleanliness and organization to assigned vehicles, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard locations

**Qualifications**

To be considered for this position you will possess the following skills, attributes and abilities:

- Previous snow and lawn maintenance experience
- Minimum 5-7 years experience in the hardscape/landscape/construction industry
- Must be capable of grading, layout, forming and pouring, paving stone installation, layout and assembly of retaining walls; softscaping
- Minimum 3-5 years supervisory experience
- Licensed to spray herbicides and pesticides would be desirable
- Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
- Working knowledge of landscape stock and species
- Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction activities
- Working knowledge of lawn maintenance programs with good working knowledge of fertilizers and pesticides as related to lawn care (should have Ontario license to spray)
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
