**Role**:
As a Quality Assurance Manager, you are passionate about food quality and safety, and meeting GFSI standards with no compromise. You’re adept at training and developing people, both on your team and on the floor of the plant. You’re meticulous in your compliance records, and your team ensures that quality standards are achieved at a reasonable cost and in a timely manner. And finally, you’re as adept in the boardroom dealing with customers and auditors, as you are on the plant floor dealing with production and CFIA personnel.
Sunrise is looking for a professional QA Manager that maintains world class quality standards, is an excellent hands-on team builder, extremely well organized, and a proven record of success delivering high quality products in a fast-paced
environment.
**Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for managing of all quality control processes and procedures within the facility;
- Oversee the implementation and compliance of all food safety and quality standards including HACCP,SOP'S and GMP policies and procedures;
- Manage and assure full execution of all corporate Food safety and Quality Assurance programs;
- Manage HACCP,CCP'S PC'S monitoring, validations and calibrations;
- Develop and initiate standards and procedure for inspections, auditing, testing, evaluations and compliance with Food safety program;
- Lead Internal and External Audit Programs, including knowledge and experience with current BRC audit guidelines and requirements to ensure plant compliance to FSEP, Corporate Food Safety and Quality Programs (or equivalent);
- Training & retraining employees for various tasks and Good Manufacturing Practices, including Critical Control Points (CCP);
- Develop and implement procedures for disposition and consumer complaints;
- Recommends, prepares and implements Quality System SOPs including all QA checklists in accordance with regulatory requirements;
- Interact with other departments to develop food safety training programs; also with marketing department and customers, during routine audits, customer complaint and/or new products;
- Responsible for preventing and resolving quality issues;
- Responsible to review and approve required paperwork and documentation created by the various departments: production, sanitation, maintenance;
- Manage microbiological testing program as applicable for ingredients, materials and production;
- Recommend and implement corrective and preventative measures to improve product safety and quality standards;
- Participate in new product development and presentations with sales and marketing;
- Hire and supervise Quality Control Technicians;
- Supervising and motivating the team of QC Technicians and conducting performance reviews;
- Scheduling and conducting meetings related to quality issues as needed;
- Providing and advising strategic inputs to the senior management team;
- Attending corporate training and meetings;
- Prepare reports/summaries and communicates results to the Senior Management team;
- Maintains an awareness of new and emerging methods of quality control in area of quality assurance in the poultry & meat processing industry and related regulatory requirements and ongoing changes;
- Have a proven track record for being accurate, thorough and attention to detail;
- Be able to sample meat products;
- Be able to be involved in product development and sample preparation;
- Able to look for ways to improve and promote quality;
- Monitoring suppliers’ compliance for ALL incoming raw materials and ingredients with respect to food safety and quality.
**Responsibilities**:
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or a related field.
- Experience working in a meat processing plant preferred.
- Have 3 to 5 years of experience in quality control lab analysis, food processing, and quality management.
- Fluent in English - both verbal and written.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office computer programs (Excel and Word).
- Experience in a food processing facility is an asset.
- Flexibility to work different shifts whenever required (primary shift - day shift).
- Possess strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
