The Toronto Blue Jays are building a new business focused on hosting guests for tours of Rogers Centre’s one-of-a-kind spaces. These tours will give guests the unique opportunity to peak behind-the-scenes of one of Canada’s most iconic buildings along with learning about the proud history of the Toronto Blue Jays. The Manager, Tours will be a leader with a passion for executing memorable experiences, possess advanced planning and management skills, and be excited about building a new venture from the ground up.
**Key Responsibilities**:
Tour Development
- Develop and implement a tours strategy, including tour offerings, pricing, and a go-to-market plan.
- Work cross-functionally to design tour operations processes (e.g., tour logistics, tour set-up, and daily scheduling).
- Design a booking process and implement supporting technology.
Sales and Marketing
- Participate in Toronto tourism groups and initiatives to build relationships and cultivate business through tourism partners.
- Work with Strategy & Analytics and Marketing to generate and target potential guests.
- Attend trade shows, conventions, and events to promote Blue Jays tours.
- Work with internal stakeholders to execute cross-sell and up-sell opportunities.
Tour Operations
- Hire and train Part-Time Tour Guide Team.
- Oversee daily operations of the department including tours, staff scheduling, managing timelines and troubleshooting.
- Develop and maintain operational details including routes and scripts, space planning, and logístical coordination.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and protocols during tours, prioritizing the well-being of participants at all times.
Business Oversight
- Prepare, track, and report on Tours budget.
- Collect and analyze guest feedback.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Business Administration, Tourism or Hospitality related field.
- 5 years of experience in coordinating a variety of activities and operations at a tourism location, stadium, or other large public facility.
- Entrepreneurial spirit: desire to build a business from the ground up, ability to flex cross-functionally, and a willingness to tackle tough challenges.
- Leadership: proven experience managing a large staff and leading a business.
- Relationship building: ability to proactively engage with industry stakeholders to build strategic relationships, leverage connections to gather feedback on offerings, and create a sales lead pipeline.
- Strategic thinking: ability to frame problems, analyze solutions, and make well reasoned decisions.
- Collaboration: willingness and ability to partner with internal stakeholders to execute memorable experiences.
- Flexible Scheduling: willingness to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of baseball: passion for the game of baseball and familiarity with stadium operations is advantageous.
- Legally able to work in Canada.
