Ontario Arts Council is embarking on an exciting new initiative designed to improve our programs, services, impact and drive sustainable growth. We are seeking two Granting Project Officers with direct experience leading or substantially contributing to program design and policy development to help shape and deliver this important work.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Project**Planning**
- Develop and adapt plans to ensure successful project implementation, including objectives, scope, resources, timelines, budgets, consultation and approval requirements, both internal and external.
- Prioritize workflow and make recommendations to ensure high priority needs are met.
**Analysis and Recommendations**
- Review and assess how OAC’s current funding structures and approaches can be effectively transitioned
- Identify gaps and opportunities to address under new framework while considering sector/discipline/arts activity funding gaps and OAC’s administrative processes
- Gather input, and consult where appropriate within granting and with other OAC departments to incorporate additional expertise, as appropriate, and ensure programs and plans are aligned with broader organizational projects, priorities, resources and requirements.
- Provide risk identification and mitigation strategies
- Ensure recommendations meet project and organizational priorities and are feasible within the resources provided
- Identify processes that may need to be implemented and / or changed
- Ensure any recommended new or revised granting policies remain consistent with broader requirements.
**Documentation and Writing**
- Document synopses of meetings and the meeting decisions and agreements and get required sign-off as necessary
- Draft briefing notes and recommendations
- Contribute to the revision of granting policy and process documents.
**Key Qualifications**:
- 5+ years of work experience for a public funding body in a mid-to-senior level position with direct experience leading or substantially contributing to program design and policy development
- Undergraduate degree in arts management, or another related field, or a combination of other equivalent relevant education/training and experience
- Knowledge and clear understanding of OAC’s mandate and granting policies and programs
- Broad understanding and knowledge of the arts, trends and issues in Ontario
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility
- Understanding of budgets, budget analysis and financial systems
- Project management expertise, certification and tools in support of process improvement and operationalizing changes
- Successful project planning, prioritizing and organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize and adapt complex information for varied audiences and purposes - ability to do so in French an asset
- Sound interpersonal skills and proven ability to build relationships and navigate sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism
- Sound judgement, and advanced problem solving and analytical skills
- Dependability, flexibility, and ability to work effectively under pressure
- Initiative and strong follow-through
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills in MS Office suite
