Read to Me Learning Centre serves learners in the North and West Vancouver communities who have dyslexia and language-based learning differences. We teach individuals how to unlock our written code and increase their literacy skills using the multi-sensory Orton Gillingham approach.

**Job Summary**:
We are seeking **certified** Orton Gillingham Trained Tutors to join our team in an **Independent Contractor Position**. In this role, you will work independently one-to-one with students grades 1-7 who have dyslexia and language-based learning differences in your own home office environment located in the North or West Vancouver area.

You will create individualized student lesson plans to support students in reading, spelling, grammar, writing and comprehension. Lessons are personalized to each student and based on students’ individual learning profiles.

The student load will be a minimum of at least 6 students at any given time with the potential for more. All students must have sessions twice per/week for retention/progress purposes so the minimum teaching requirement will be for 12 hours per/week. The Independent Contractor understands that their student schedule may be filled slowly until it reaches full capacity to a maximum of 8 students per/day.

Read to Me Learning Centre exclusively follows the public-school calendar for offering sessions. There is an option of conducting sessions during Christmas and Spring Break as well as summer months as per/client demand.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work 1:1 with students Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00am-8:00pm. Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 8:00am-4:00pm. Sessions are 55 minutes in length and each student attends for a minimum of two times per/week. As an Independent Contractor you choose the hours and days that best suit your schedule.
- Create and implement individual student lesson plans using the tenets of Orton Gillingham based on literacy skills assessments with consideration given to student IEP/profile
- Complete two times yearly student progress reports
- Attend meetings as required in person or over the phone/zoom
- Provide written and oral communication with parents and Read to Me Learning Centre

**Competencies**:

- Provide a structured, flexible, sequential, enthusiastic learning experience for students using the Orton Gillingham Approach
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Exemplary communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills (students, colleagues, and parents)
- Enjoy working with children, have a caring, patient approach to offering instruction and can deliver lessons in a positive, engaging manner are preferred

**Requirements**:

- **Orton Gillingham Certification** with a minimum of one-year tutoring experience. **(Newly Orton Gillingham trained tutors will be given consideration)**
- Willing to give a two-year commitment
- Willing to submit a CRC (Criminal Record Check)
- Experience working with students who have learning differences and special needs preferred
- Must have a suitable home office environment where lessons can be carried out and be willing to demonstrate pictures of work space.

**Rate of pay**:
$35.00 per/55-minute session to start with the potential of increasing to $55.00 per/55-minute session based on experience and student success rate.
