**Program**: The Phoenix Learning and Employment Centre (PLEC) offers education and employment support for youth aged 16-24. PLEC provides the opportunity to engage in the exploration of education and career development through individualized support, readiness programs, supporting the ability to access education funding, work placements, and wage subsidies.

**Job Summary**: As part of the PLEC team, the STEP Project Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and daily oversight of this training and employment program for youth ages of 16 to 24.

STEP is a work readiness program for youth accessing PLEC to gain employment readiness skills through a 5-week in-class training before completing a 12-week work placement (7 cohorts over 3 years).

The STEP Project Coordinator will recruit youth and co-facilitate a 5-week employment readiness training program on a continuous basis. In conjunction with the PLEC Employment Practitioner - Employer Engagement, this role will engage and screen employers to match them with youth for a short-term work placement that aligns with their work goals.

The role will offer case management support to youth and employers alike to facilitate the participants’ successful transition and participation in their work placement. Administration oversight, continuous evaluation, and collaboration with the PLEC team are also required to ensure the program is meeting youth needs as well as funder outcomes. This role will work closely with PLEC management to ensure all administrative, reporting, and financial requirements are also met.

**Compensation**:**Base annual salary of $56,000, comprehensive cost-shared group medical insurance plan, Employee and Family Assistance Program, RRSP contribution, three weeks annually of vacation to start and 4 weeks after one year, (pro-rated for the term), generous wellness leave, a generous paid holiday schedule, in-house trainings, and professional development opportunities.

**Hours of Work**: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:30a.m. - 4:30p.m., with some flexibility for occasional evening work.

**Location**: 6169 Quinpool Rd., Suite 220, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

**Reports to**: Manager, Phoenix Learning and Employment Centre (PLEC)

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensure the program is congruent with Phoenix’s vision and values.
- Work in accordance with Phoenix’s policies, procedures, and framework of practice.
- Support the agency’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through learning opportunities, critical self-reflection, and professional development.
- Support the day-to-day operations of PLEC, including contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment. Regularly engaging in case conferencing with other PLEC team members.
- Responsible for the STEP project implementation and daily operational oversight.
- Recruit, screen, assess and complete youth intakes for the duration of the project.
- In conjunction with the PLEC team as well as the STEP Employment Skills Facilitator, design and co-facilitate a 5-week youth employment readiness training program in preparation for 12-week work placements.
- Supported by the PLEC Manager, liaise with the project’s identified Service Canada Development Officer regarding program reporting and evaluation activities as required.
- Maintain case notes and program statistics as stated in the YESS Program Agreement.
- Write activity/progress reports according the pre-established timeline.
- Provide individualized case management support to STEP participants.
- Assist youth develop their individual work plan based on their unique employment goals.
- Work in conjunction with the other Phoenix team members to provide wrap-around supports for youth.
- Support the development and implementation of 12-week work placements for youth.
- Work collaboratively with the PLEC Employment Practitioner - Employer Engagement to identify, recruit and screen employers with the goal of securing a 12-week work placements for youth participants.
