**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the School of Community Services Manager, the incumbent is responsible for securing the field placement of all students primarily in the Social Service Worker (SSW) program within the school of Community Services.

The incumbent promotes, develops, coordinates, implements, secures, and evaluates field placement opportunities for Seneca students in the School of Community Services. The incumbent represents Seneca, School of Community Services, in the community by building and maintaining professional partnerships including the development of professional relationships, recognition of partners, and meaningful field education events.

This role will work closely with other Seneca departments to contribute to the design and modifications of Seneca’s Field Placement Database, as well as, Field related events.

The incumbent will visit virtually and occasionally onsite, assess and support students while in the field; troubleshoot and problem solve all field placement issues; and design, and revise field placement documents in consultation with manager, faculty, and community partners. The incumbent will work with all other Seneca departments to enhance the growth of the Community Services department.

Travel between campuses (King, Seneca at York and Yorkgate) and field agency sites may be required.

**Responsibilities**:

- Identifies and secures placement opportunities for SSW students and provides regular reports to the Community Services Manager on the status of field placements.
- Actively supports all SSW students in their field placement search process and in accordance with specific needs of the program, as well as, support to other programs, when necessary, for example, providing support to the SSW streams across campuses.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with field partner organizations, conducts regular follow-up, and maintains contracts.
- Reassesses placement sites on a routine basis, assists in identifying needs for new and/or additional placements and contacts organizations to develop appropriate placement opportunities.
- Establishes unique and innovative field placement opportunities as an alternative to more traditional placement sites.
- Maintains online database of all placement sites and current student placements.
- Trains and supports Field Liaisons and students in the use of, and access to, electronic processes.
- Provides support to students and field supervisors including conducting field visits and facilitation to resolve issues.
- Provides support within a variety of settings and circumstances involving placement related issues including regular support to Field Liaisons.
- Liaises with faculty to discuss students’ suitability and to organize workshops for field placement supervisors and students.
- In collaboration with manager, maintains field placement manuals, supportive materials, and resources on Field Website, including social media and master database.
- Ensures that all paperwork required for field placement is obtained in a timely manner and stored in the student’s online file.
- Ensures all content is accurate and up-to-date on the Field Education Website and informs manager of changes required.
- Ensures placements align with program expectations, Community Services Field Education minimum standards, Seneca policies, the OCSWSSW standards of practice and the code of ethics.
- Other duties as required.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**
- A minimum 2-year diploma in Social Service Work.
- Membership in Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) is an asset

**Experience**
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working within the social service and related organizations.

**Skills**
- Experience working with social media platforms to build networks is an asset.
- Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to work independently towards establishing and meeting competing priorities and deadlines.
- Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills required
- Working knowledge of Social Assistance offices, school board programs, and staff roles in order to procure approvable placement sites is an asset.
- An awareness of College, Academic and Student policies is an asset.
- Must have the ability to work independently in a fast paced, multi-cultural/lingual/able academic environment.
