Oshawa, Canada Compassionate Care - Private PSW Services Full time

**Job Summary**

Currently, we are hiring Full-Time 8am-4pm for a client in North Oshawa who requires assistance with household tasks and meal preparation, specifically for breakfast and lunch. The client possesses the ability to use the bathroom independently; however, they require guidance that they should have a shower. While the client can shower independently, reminders for oral hygiene, such as brushing their teeth, are necessary.

The family is seeking a caregiver who can provide support by being present during emergency situations or when assistance is required, while avoiding excessive oversight of the client.

At this time, we are looking for an individual to work 4 to 5 days per week from 8am-4pm with the possibility of overtime. If a caregiver is unable to fulfill their schedule, your availability to cover those hours would be greatly appreciated. It is important to note that the client’s hours may occasionally change, although they strive to provide notice.

There are instances when the client may require redirection and may exhibit inappropriate behavior, the client handles redirection respectfully.

**Responsibilities**
- Engage clients in social activities and provide companionship to enhance their quality of life.
- Assist with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition for clients.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Document client progress and report any concerns to the supervising healthcare professional.
- Provide specialized care for clients with dementia or other cognitive impairments.

**Qualifications**
- Experience in assisted living, home care, or nursing home settings is preferred.
- Personal Support Worker Certification
- Knowledge of patient care practices, including medication administration and senior care techniques.
- Familiarity with working with persons with Dementia/Alzheimer's is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
- Certification in first aid or CPR is advantageous but not required at the time of hire.
