We are looking for a Personal Support Worker You are a person who is friendly and have strong interpersonal skills. You see potential in people and situations; leaning towards the positive side of things, you have a knack for encouragement.

If this sounds like you, here is how you fit in:
A kind, creative, and motivated woman in her early 40s, who lives in Oshawa, is looking for a personal support worker who can provide personal care in her home assisting with basic needs. A typical day may look like providing care at home with food prep and personal care, while going out for groceries, and assisting with regular day-to-day tasks. There is potential for this position to grow to also be based around personal goal development where you can work with this woman in similar interests, aiding in achieving their goals and motivations.

You will work within a strengths-based approach, embracing the inclusion and inclusive practices that create and foster encouragement, connection, and care. You should have good communication skills to create a welcoming space. This is an opportunity for you to support someone to be a part of their community, in doing so you would assist them in building their connection to the community and support system.

If you believe you are a self-starter that is caring and enjoys connecting with people, this could be the role for you You will work alongside this individual for hours two evenings a week. Often some shifts and extra shifts may be on-call/short notice. The specific hours and days worked can be scheduled in advance by mutual agreement.

Shifts will be on-call with the possibility of becoming set hours.

Key Requirements:
1. Over 25 years of age (a requirement for operating vehicle for insurance purposes)

2. Travel is required, class G Ontario Drivers Licence required

3. Completion of Vulnerable Sector Police check

4. Committed to respectful and strength based, person-centred approaches

5. Ability to use empathy, confidence boosting, and encouragement to foster a stronger supporter-supportee relationship

6. Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19

Assets:
1. Committed to holistic health, wellness, and fitness

2. Comfortable around cats/dogs

3. Enjoys outdoors/gardening

Hourly Rate:

- $21/hr

This position works directly with a family and is not considered an employee of the Durham Association for Family Resources and Support.

**Salary**: $21.00 per hour
