Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, the Regional Clinical Manager is accountable for the direction of resident care in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.

- **Key Responsibilities**:_
- Ensures the Clinical Department in the Central zone regularly meets performance targets and strategic goals.
- Oversees the education of new and updated policies and care standards.
- Provides ongoing clinical feedback, clinical support, clinical mentoring to Directors of Care, Wellness Managers, Team Leads, healthcare staff and Community Administrators in the Central Zone.
- Leads site stabilization where clinical support is required.
- Supports the sites through regular in person on-site visits including but not limited to: quarterly internal audits, un-scheduled mini internal audits, investigation of serious clinically based critical incidents, attending monthly AHS meetings, on-site support for external audits through AHS and Accreditation Canada.
- Works with site management, acting a key point of contact for serious critical incidents.
- Supports sites where implementation, deployment and support of clinical programs are needed, travel may be required.
- Serves as key point person for nursing and clinical best practice.
- Makes recommendations on new business initiatives and equipment purchases relating to clinical best practices, customer service and cost effectiveness.
- Liaise with Alberta Health Services clinical specialists.
- Provide support to Physicians; coordinates and chairs quarterly Physician meeting.
- Responsible for operating within approved budget.
- Maintains visibility and acts as role model in the clinical setting.
- Participates in provision of direct/indirect care of residents for the purpose of education staff.
- Respects and acknowledges skill levels and contributions of all staff.
- Supports staff morale and team building activities.
- Promotes evidence based practice being integrated into the Supportive Living/Homecare/Dementia Care setting.
- Collaborates in the development of best practice and evidence based standards.
- Demonstrates respect for others and the cultural diversity of others by using tact, diplomacy and courtesy in all interactions.
- Maintains own competence in nursing practice.
- Acts as a liaison between AHS and organization in ensuring that clinical benchmarks are met.
- Supports deployment and implementation of Electronic Charting Software.

**Support and mentor site Directors of Care and Wellness Managers with the following**:

- Ensures accurate and complete processing of admission and discharge papers including Supportive Living and/or Homecare residential contracts.
- Responsible for supporting with Resident Family Council.
- Responsible for supporting with LPN and HCA meetings.
- Provide Pre-Assessments and Annual Assessments on all residents receiving care and services at the community. Coordinate dates with team for all scheduled care conferences.
- Hire, orientate, supervise and evaluate the performance of the nursing personnel. This includes the use of the disciplinary process in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Directs the maintenance of health care records to ensure and promote compliance with regulations and quality care for the resident.
- Provide support where needed for departmental absenteeism and sick day management.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with all staff, residents’ families, the community, physicians and other professionals.
- Meets with resident’s family to resolve problems/concerns/complaints.
- Liaises with other local health agencies and educational institutions.
- Promotes a wellness philosophy throughout the community.
- Promotes resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement.

**Quality Assurance**:

- Manages the Accreditation Competencies and Standards for Central Zone.
- Supports Accreditation planning and meetings within the four year accreditation cycle.
- Leads Clinical Quality Improvement Strategies and provides support on Organizational Quality Improvement Strategies in the Central Zone.
