Controller (Ft)

This is a confidential posting for a window and door manufacturer located in the Vaughan area.

**Position Summary**:
The Controller is responsible to oversee successful execution of all corporate finance and accounting operations, including reporting, budgets, forecasting, payroll, stakeholder relationships, records maintenance, and developing a comprehensive set of controls to ensure accuracy, data integrity and projections. The Controller will act in accordance and compliance with all legislative requirements, including GAAP.

The Controller will partner closely with the President to implement and streamline department procedures, ensure workflow, monitor P&L, and monitor operational performance. The Controller will collaborate with external department leaders, including production, purchasing, quality, human resources, and management in order to monitor and control costs, provide guidance and advice, and implement efficiencies.

**Responsibilities**:

- Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Manage outsourced functions.
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
- Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable.
- Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly.
- Process payroll in a timely manner.
- Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.
- Maintain the chart of accounts.
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
- Comply with local and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Issue timely financial statements.
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
- Provide for a system of management cost reports.

**Education & Experience**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in, Finance, Business Administration or Accounting.
- 10+ years progressive experience in a management accounting role within a manufacturing / production environment.
- CPA designation.
- Experience utilizing Great Plains.
- Proven success in a supervisory, management or leadership role in Finance departments.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.
- Considerable knowledge of laws, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to best accounting practices.
- Strong writing skills for creating reports, correspondence, contracts, requests, bids, and other documentation.
- Knowledge of the appropriate tools for grading, analyzing, and assessing materials, equipment, supplies, services, and other commodities.
- Exceptional forecasting ability with strong analytical and interpretive skills.
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and key business partners.
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
- Excellent time and project management skills.
