**Position Overview**

**Larga Baffin strives to provide Nunavummiut with quality care during their medical appointments in Ottawa. We are dedicated to creating a safe and respectful environment with friendly and caring staff. We offer a nice warm bed, healthy meals, and local ground transportation to medical appointments. Our facility is strategically located in Ottawa so that our clients can access the hospitals and airport in a timely manner.**

The Maintenance Supervisor, under the direction of the General Manager, will primarily be responsible to respond to emergency maintenance requests and troubleshoots issues to determine causes and solutions. This position will ensure that safe work practices are being followed. This role will also ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards. The Maintenance Supervisor must possess proficiency in Microsoft office (word, excel, outlook, etc.) and excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. The Maintenance Supervisor must have outstanding knowledge of building trades and maintenance. A Maintenance supervisor is expected to have fantastic organizational and time management skills. You will display natural leadership and possess fantastic communication skills with a great eye for detail. To ensure success, the Maintenance Supervisor should display strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a solid understanding of building maintenance, repairs refurbishments, cleaning, and supervising staff. Must be fantastic at building and equipment maintenance procedures and have extensive knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices.

**Responsibilities**:

- Response to emergency maintenance requests, troubleshoots issues to determine causes and solutions
- Ensure that safe work practices are being followed
- Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
- Provide employee training, ensuring that all applicable compliance requirements are met
- Coordinate activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and delegating work accordingly
- Maintain shift schedules to ensure sufficient employee coverage
- Oversee staff to ensure work is being performed according to established standards
- Analyze departmental operations and identify areas requiring improvement
- Inspect sites regularly to identify problems and necessary maintenance
- Coordinate daily maintenance activities
- Maintain all inventory and equipment and ensure proper storage
- Conduct preventative maintenance work
- Conduct follow-up on all maintenance and repair work
- Conduct safety inspections as scheduled
- Establish strategies to meet workload demands on time

**Job Qualifications**:

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook, etc.)
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor’s degree (highly advantageous)
- At least 2 years experience as a maintenance supervisor (essential)
- Strong knowledge of building trades, cleaning procedures, and maintenance
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and practices, effective budgeting and performance management
- Fantastic organizational and leadership skills
- Great eye for detail
- Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines
- Excellent time management skillsStrong decision making and problem-solving skills
- Beneficiary Status with the ability to speak Inuktitut preferred
